I just wonder if Tomlin is putting in the same amount of hours at the office he did 10 years ago?

And, 50+ is generally when people start to slow down on the amount of time they spend at work. I know my hours at work have taken a huge cut in the last 10 years and I am still on track to be retired in my 50s.

The average retirement age in the U.S. is 61. The average life expectancy is 77. I doubt anyone driven enough to become an NFL coach is ready to call it a career at 51.

Tomlin LOVES being the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, he's never going resign, even if they lose out the rest of this season and go 0-17 the next 3 years. They'll have to force him out unfortunately

Ya no, Tomlins only success was riding the coat tails of cowhers team, he has never built his own championship caliber team and from wat im seeing, cant do it.or doesnt have the know how. He had the chance for 2 yrs now with losin half tge team to free agency n this is wat we get! Piss poor

The only person that can help this situation is Art Rooney ll and if he has blinders on, Mike will be hear next season.

Pimply Dan told me hiring Matt Canada as head coach solves both problems. No?

Yeah. I expect he will get extended in January so we can hire a credible offensive coordinator barring a catastrophic meltdown and he loses the entire locker room.

I am guessing we have at least 2-4 more years with Tomlin, which means 2-4 years of not contending.

    No.

He can be fired which they won't do....he can be traded which I'm sure he would have to agree to....or he can retire which is what Cowher did.

What you can't do is have a lame duck head coach because it affects hiring assistants and signing free agents.

I sure hope not, because Tomlin will be starting a new kind of regular season streak, a losing one

Retire is the only option for next year I really hope he sees the writing on the wall and wants to leave with some class. Because if the other night was any indication the City has had enough. Those boos were deafening.

That is what I am 90% sure of. Unless somehow the Steelers come alive next year he is going to hate hearing the terrible things coming from the stands. He is lucky we only have 1 more home game this season.

    4. Resignation wrapped in a retirement bow, aka Cowher, is the probable route. This way the Steelers can keep the line about not firing a HC in 54 years on the mantle.
