Ben's injury and the birth of his son were about the same time. Could it be he is recovered from his injury, but not recovered from being a dad? That sure does change one' life.

Not sure, but he hasn't looked very good for the last month.

My guessis Ben is still hurting some. He's not 100%, but he's better than his backups. This is two yrs in a row now where late in season performance has gone down due to the cumulative effects of injuries, aches and pains. He's over 30, maybe it's a fluke, maybe it's a trend. We'll see.

He has the whole off season to get well and hopefully do some conditioning work for next season.

If he keeps holding onto the ball it will become a trend.

He pretty much said he's still injured in his post game presser. Said his offseason will start by getting healthy and when asked if he would play the Pro Bowl if asked, said he's not healthy enough to play

I betting we see him getting his shoulder serviced.

he was over throwing some wide open recievers on easy throws. i think his shoulder and rib was still hurting and it wasnt letting him release the ball like hes used to.

when Ben is on the move hes as good as any qb has ever been. he wasnt very accurate on the move after the injuries. hopefully he will have a good effseason and the Steelers oline issues will get better.

Keep in mind that it wasn't an injury, but two injuries that he had to recover from. He had the "near death" rib dislocation and the shoulder injury at the same time. He may have recovered from the rib injury enough to go out and play after 3 weeks, but I don't think he is fully recovered from the shoulder injury yet.

Being cleared to play and being 100% are 2 different things, I doubt Ben was close to 100%, just out of danger on the rib thing, the shoulder was very much an issue still.

Agreed, and I didn't think he looked ready to come back any of the games he played after returning, but what other options did we have at the time? Being "able" to play doesn't equal being "ready" to play, in my opinion. Didn't we sign a backup QB at some point in the games we were running on backups and immediately let him go? Guess I would've liked to have seen what he could do at least, if for nothing else than to rest Ben a little more and maybe even explore potential future backups.

I've thought that too. Possible the old ankle injury(ies) are still giving him some trouble? While he may be healed, I know some injuries can just nag and nag and nag (says someone living with two back fusion recipients who complain every time it rains).

only to get injured again, he can't even make it out of preseason healthy ,, it's time to draft the future QB,, it takes what 2 years to develope somebody unless you can grab a Luck or RG3,, Ben should be dead by then, so that should work out.

This could end up being true, and every year we lose Ben to yet another injury bothers me, but it's really a consequence of his style of play plus a crap O-line who can't protect against a strong wind sometimes. I do think, regardless of how long Ben has left, that it's time to start looking for that future QB to groom, especially since it's gives us time to shop around and try guys on for size.

Also, the increase in mobile, running QBs in general makes me worry about shortened careers. I love seeing RGIII run, but I cringe every time he takes a hit. I hate Vick, but it's his style too and look how well that's worked out for him. Maybe it's time to focus as much on beefing up O-lines as much as looking for quality QBs.

ya RG3 is taking some big hits, I don't see him lasting very long, most of Ben sacks are just from guys pulling him down, he isn't getting drilled as often, but it's starting to add up, even the pull downs are messing up his ankles.

If Ben was truly injured, then Ben shouldve been kept out of the games. I blame the coach on that one!! You could definitely tell ben wasnt right, clearly by all the underthrows on simple screen passes.
