This is approaching the lowest of all time! Historically bad football that we are witnessing Thursday Night.

TBH were not even close. The Pats are really bad, but a Browns and Lions team each finished a whole season winless. That is historically bad. We might have a bad offense, but there are 4 teams with lower PPG this season (one of those is that Pats team we are playing).

Thursday Night games tend to suck because the short week leads to more predictable game-planning and unfortunately, injuries. Two QB's will be starting this game that wont be starters in 2024. It's definitely not a hype train match-up... but we are so far from historically bad. Lets not overreact just because we are embarrassed at a horrific loss last week. We have one or two of those every season and we turn out better than "historically bad" or "will not win another game all year" every single time.

 

Two good defenses in this game. Consider that when the offenses screw up on Thursday

 

I’m not saying the Steelers are historically the worst team I’m saying Vegas has this over under as one of the lowest all time. Meaning these two offenses are some of the worst in NFL history which they are not wrong! Under is the play.

Better chance at hitting the over with Mitch starting than Kenny. Mitch is more likely to take chances. That could lead to big plays for us or more big plays for the Pats D, each of which would lead to more scoring.

We can win the game 24-3 and hit the under EASY. I'll go with that

Their offense is significantly more inept than ours. Their defense is good enough all things considered, but they are amongst the worst in the league in sacks and causing turnovers. They are toward the top of the league against the run and middle of the pack vs. the pass. Essentially a good defense at keeping it in front of them, but they don't make very many big plays defensively.

We are a bit of the opposite. Still a bad offense, but much better than theirs. We give up some yards, but we are among the best in the league in pressuring the QB and turnovers. With an offense as prone to poor play as NE's, we should expect to make a few plays defensively that turn the game in our favor. Stop the run and pressure the QB.

Absolutely no reason not to win this one.

 

Absolutley no reason to lose to the 2-10 Cardinals either. In reality we are not much better than the worst teams in football.

 

It does happen other places than Pittsburgh tho. Is Jacksonville not much better than the worst teams in football because they lost to a bad Bengals team with their journeyman 3rd stringer starting games for them? Are the 49ers frauds because they lost to PJ Walker? Imagine what would happen around here if we lost like the Jags did... "making scrubs look like Brady", "playing down to the competition", etc.. It isn't likely to happen again and it generally doesn't, even to us despite having history of the one major headscratcher per year. The league is designed with parity in mind. They want the 4-8 teams to really not be a lot worse than the 8-4 teams, etc. The only thing that kills parity is the QB play. Ours has been bad... which is why it shows how good of a team we have. To win in spite of the QB position in today's NFL is a testament to the solidity of the rest of the roster.

 

Over because the NFL is bat**** crazy.

 

I was at my club this morning and mentioned the over/under to my betting with an app friends and was surprised that 3 of them jumped on the over. I tried explaining the situation with our boys but they think it is almost a lock the total score will be over 30.

 

I honestly have no idea what to expect at this point, and unfortunately I'm having more and more trouble caring. I can't remember being less hyped for a prime time game, or any regular season game for that matter. I just have a hard time seeing what we're playing for at this point. I no longer believe in this core of players nor do I believe in the leadership (i.e. owner, coaches). I'm not really rooting for them to fail, but winning seems just as meaningless. Until a radical change is made in the direction of this franchise they'll just be spinning their wheels.
