Couple weeks ago Steelers are backed up in there own end zone and line up in shotgun with a QB that can never move the ball, almost results in a safety, the next play they hand it off to Harris who stutter steps behind the line of scrimmage almost gets a safety

Today , 4th and 1 , they line up in the shot gun again , hand it off the Harris and he doesn’t get anywhere

Besides running theses plays out of shot gun , y the hell would u not put Warren in the game and hand it off under center to the speedy guy Warren who actually hits the hole like a rocket taking off ???

I just don’t understand the logic behind theses calls, even if they would of been successful I still would not of agree’d with it

I think the mindset is that Najee, due to size, is much better battering ram.

ok but at least make it an option play, the cards blew up the OL on that goal line play.
The OL had no kind of push back at all

Tomlin just answered the question about lining up in shotgun on that play and said "its irrelevant in todays game" and as expected from these incompetent reporters not a question about the repeated garbage snaps by Cole not only in this game but throughout this season!!!

Tomlin started off saying the snapping was subpar.

Cole has got to get his shotgun snaps up! He was much better last week and it showed. I don't know why Faulkner still has those shotguns run plays to Najee on short yardage in the playbook. It's just way too easy for the defense to see what hole he's heading towards and meet him! It's asinine! How many short yardage stops do you need to see before you rip that crap out and go under center or fake it and throw it?

    Hey Matt Canada,
I would love to know why the Steelers for years now seem to have an aversion to doing a QB sneak on short yardage 4th down plays!! Why? Is it because they freakin work most of the time! I find it absolutely insane to hand the ball off to whomever and hope the guy runs forward for 3 yards plus the yard or so to make rather than the QB just going straight ahead. Over and over the Steelers do this and fail. Look at Brady, not the size of Ben when he played, and I would love to know the percentage of successful sneaks, and Ben hardly ever did a sneak let alone present day it when it is a rarity as well.

Also, why in the world do the Steelers play so freakin conservative. Case in point, 3rd and 4 or so in first half and they pass to the sideline and hope the guy runs for 4 yards, didn't happen!! Is if so hard to pass the ball forward for 4 freakin yards? You can't win when you try to play to not lose. Pickins if a professional QB in the NFL. Let the guy throw the ball down the field. Really sad offense, amazing they have won as many games as they have, a large tribute to the defense.

What a dumb comment. It's shocking to hear an NFL coach say that.

That's the point. Why would you line up with your QB in shotgun, in his own end zone, when shotgun snaps are "subpar"?

    :frustrated:

Tomlin said in the press conference that the difference between being under center and being shotgun formation on the goal line is "negligible" in todays NFL.

Once Seumalo got hurt on that goal line stand the run game was basically done. Once Pickett was hurt the pass game was done.

I was taken back by that too but then I have to remind myself it’s a game Tomlin plays with the media. I hope he doesn’t believe that anyway.

The comment that there is no difference tells me Tomlin and staff do not understand physics. Harris is a slow run starter and does not generate enough speed and force in a short distance, he needs to get a running start to be effective. They have to know better then trying this and should have better play design.

I know that's a common belief, but I don't buy it. I think he does believe all the BS he says because he seems to do those things in game an awful lot. Our shotgun vs under center formations have been a source of frustration all season, and now he says that. It makes sense that he believes it.

I don’t believe anything any coach says in a presser. I think they lie and deceive routinely, and it makes sense. Why reveal anything useful to a potential opponent.

Those down and distances are perfect for the pitch , jet sweeps , swing passes and even the smoke screens. We do not even try to attack the edges in short yardage so of course it’s going to be fire blitz..
