You think. So did He wield power when He was made to keep the DC when hired. Did He wield power when He was made to stay a 3-4 D.
Did He wield power when He tried to get Arians resigned , and instead let Him go, and they hired Haley. We know thus has happened....Hell Arians, His Wife, and Ben have all backed that up.....so when has He shown He has all this power??? I didn't say His suggestion aren't listened to.....I'm saying there is proof that He's not even close to the final word, and I just gave You some examples.....I would like to see examples the other way .....besides just what is thought.

And when did I suggest that he has “the final word” or even anything close to that?

I’m debating a different extreme statement that he makes “suggestions”.

Your opposing examples over the course of nearly two decades are fine, but still some here say and not a public statement carved in granite either.

I think even just this draft season Tomlin made some statements led me to believe he is more involved than a I had thought or a head coach in his first few seasons - like the style of defense.

Again, a HC in an organization at year 10…15… plus - Carrie’s a pretty big stick. But, ok, he’s not the owner. I think we all know that.

I always thought he had a lot of power but not final say. It would be interesting to know who made the hires of Terry Austin, Canada and the Oline coach.

you look at some teams coaching staffs and they have twice as many coaches as we do. That’s got to be advantageous for those teams. The Forry Niners have four Oline Coaches and we have one. You certainly can see the difference with the results.

Sources? I do think they need to tap into the Shanahan tree would mind get one if their oline coaches as well.

I always thought Pickett would fit best in a Shanahan-style WCO.

Our current playbook was designed for Ben.

It didn’t work so well for the time with Canada and Ben

I don’t think Omar was promoted just to be a puppet

I think he was a significant factor in Tomlin not being extended last July

I would guess Austin, Canada and o line coach were mainly Tomlin hires, that were ok'd
By front office. As far as Arians , I'm pretty sure that came from the top. Front office new Arians offense was gonna get Ben killed, and they wanted to run the ball more.. And as far as Dick goes running the defense, Pretty sure they wanted a smooth transition and Dick was an established coach who the players loved. They weren't gonna have some young rookie coach come in and make that call on his own..Tomlins hires and or coaching changes have pretty much all sucked.

As if Canada isn’t bad enough let’s get a guy who doesn’t know the playbook

Instead of an iPad he’ll have a sandbox or litter box

IMO I think this playbook predates Matt Canada.

I will go with Peyton Manning. He can actually identify coverage.

I was thinking the same thing. Always have even at his prime. But what does he need to coach for? He’s got a very nice stress free life.

Why would he ir anyone want to come to Pittsburgh? We don’t have much to work with.

Not saying it is likely at all. Coaching is a grind, most successful former players wouldn't be interested. In fact I don't think alot of successful players make good coaches. They can have a hard time understanding why guys aren't as driven and cannot execute as well. But I do think Peyton is a student of the game and understands and respects coaching. Just anecdotally, I think less successful players that struggled to make it are more likely to be good coaches and can be motivated financially and to find success in the game.

Per SI.com, he’s on the fast track for OC, they mention the redskins but if we have an opening also…

The Steelers should hire Mike Martz as a consultant. He thinks Pickett has potential, and is a passing game genius.

Batch would be a very good choice, perhaps the best choice for the moment. And he's sitting right here.
