1:42 seconds left on the clock and you throw 3 straight times taking 14 seconds off the clock.

I just don’t understand, Warren is the playmaker, you put the ball in his hands and run the freakin ball, make them burn there timeouts.

Yes we do not have a NFL capable QB on our team, But that series was all on the playcalling.

    I just don’t get it.

Tomlin is consistently outcoached but somehow manages to have those non losing seasons. Today’s coaching was terrible and it starts with him.

Exactly my point in the game thread, and if Canada called that and Mike didn't overrule it he's an idiot. I could stomach one throw perhaps on first down but 2nd and 3rd down you run the ball with Warren not Najee. That series and the one prior summed up frankly how football stupid both Canada and Tomlin are. No excuse for those play calls and the head coach to not override them. Tomlin's clock management skills are horrible and never have gotten better. If I am the owner that is the tipping point for me (actually it was years ago but if you held out hope that has to be it!!)

If Tomlin was consistently out coached his teams would lose more game than they win.

When it comes to game management - particularly as it relates to clock management, challenges, and adjustments ' Tomlin has, imo, been consistently been one of, if not the, worst HC in the entire league, and it's not really even close. The Rooneys should have sent him packing 10 years ago, but AR2 doesn't have the balls to do it - especially given the fact that doing so would have thrown the wisdom of their beloved (yet inherently racist) "Rooney Rule" into question. It is what it is, I guess. Tomlin will likely be gone at the end of 2024, but that's almost 14 years too late.

Tomlin is responsible for Canada. Rumor has it, Tomlin makes the calls for most of the plays anyway...which would explain why Canada and Fitchner are basically identical at playcalling.

You’re telling me you can’t see he has rocks for brains? The guy squeaks out wins somehow but he is a terrible decision maker. Always has been!

The reason micky does not have a losing is because of the talent he has ..... ,the reason we stink in the playoff is micky has no talent . Not makng the playoff or getting in and going 1 and out is nothing to brag about.

Mixing in some runs in certain situations, with Warren, makes sense, but you probably can't run your way down the field to get into FG range with only 1 timeout and less than 2 minutes. Was Warren the most productive offensive piece in the game? Absolutely. But the situation called for being able to execute a 2 minute drill which is usually dominated with passing plays. They can't execute passing plays. Miss a throw on 1st down, run for 3 on 2nd, miss a pass on 3rd and you are still punting. Unless you want to try to run out the clock and force overtime? Why not just try to drive down the field and win there? The problem is that they can't pass, not that they tried to pass.

One thing i believe needs to happen as i sit here thinking of another lost season and talking about how bad Canada is and losing hope in pickett. It has to be time to start laying the blame on Tomlin. He has covered up for his players and coaches way to long. With him the standard is the standard no matter what the stats and eye tests tells everyone outside of the steelers organization. If he doesnt make a move to try to do something to shake this offense up it should cost him his job. We all know this team as is has no hope to win a championship and as much as i hope they win every game and still break **** when they dont this is a very average team as is. Without change before this team takes the field in 2024 there will be players acting like 84. i will never hope for them to lose to better the future cause there is talent and it can change for better all they have to do is have the balls to do it..one last thing i wish every athlete in any sport played with the heart of warren

I don`t get it either. It seems the art of clock management is a lost art. The best ever was John Madden of the Raiders. If he were our head coach he would have made sure we would have used up the clock as much as possible at the very least if the possession ended up with no score and setting up almost certain OT. We had a relatively short amount of yards to go to get in FG range. We didn`t need to conserve time, there was too much time.

I think this mental failure was the result of the closed-minded mantra of "we don`t live in our fears" mentality. No consideration of what could happen if you don`t score on our last possession. In a game like this was, it should have been very much on his mind that the offense could fail again to move into scoring range. The one thing that was working, running the ball, was abandoned at the worst time possible. I was fairly sure we would have got a 1st down running the ball in that situation and if not, would have severely drained the clock and gone to OT at worst.

I`m not as angry as I could be because we are not in contention to win a Super Bowl until we find our franchise QB. Still, frustrating to see how this game was managed.

I have always been in picketts corner. But I'm starting to feel he might not be the guy.if we had Ben there in that game as old as he is we win.i no the o-line could have been better. Kenny missed so many throws.i think muth caught one the whole game. Kenny just seems nervous.he seems overwhelmed.

Another post I replied about Tomlin definitely coming back, but I just don't know anymore. Had a weird vibe to his postgame presser. As if he really wasn't invested.

I started to answer my own questions thinking maybe he knows this is his last year before he walks. Maybe, because of the 'nail in the coffin' offensive performance he could finally move on from Canada. Maybe it's just he knows this is the QBs' ceiling.

I still think it's scheme. What NFL QB only wants to throw to the LOS? Kenny is deflated. No spark left and why should there be.

George spoke out. Chuks sarcastically spoke. Now Najee... that's a trend, not coincidence. When the players start to gripe it's over.

Worse for us PSU fans. Same old crappy offensive scheme. No creativity. A hyped coach that has had little to no results. Continued great talented players get to rot through the season. I know every year PSU will lose to Ohio State and MI. Fun stuff.

Probably the only thing worse is being an Iowa fan with that abysmal offense.

They only needed another 10-12 for a decent shot at a long FG to win it with no time left.

I don’t have problems with pass plays, I have a problem with the routes and the reads. Our offense is built around the back shoulder fade which has bull crap chance of completing. We run screens that have zero timing and vanilla that the whole league knows about. We don’t throw over the middle of the field and our QB has zero pocket presence, doesn’t step up and doesn’t throw the ball away to avoid sacks. I curse like a gambler on a losing streak when it’s 3rd 12 or more and we never through the ball past the sticks.

How many times in the last 10-12 years have we lost to teams that we had no business losing to? That was with a HOF QB. In the first half yesterday, the browns qb was killing us with those same short passes in that zone we were in. In the second half, it looked liked we finally made an adjustment and shut him done cold. Robinson like our franchise qb was scared to throw downfield. Low and behold on the browns final drive, they march downfield with that same passing game that killed us in the first half. WTF. I've been pretty neutral about Tomlin for years now but I think its time for him to go. I looks like our players play scared or timid too much. How many rookie QB's have we lost to in the last 15 years. As mentioned, you have a beast in Warren and don't use him in your attempted game winning drive. WTF. Pickett ain't the guy. Harris is worthless. Watch next week, the Bengals will beat us. SOOOOO depressing. Done ranting.

Kenny Pickett throws the ball away constantly to avoid sacks. It's what has been coached and driven into his head since he became the starter. Protect the football and limit the negative plays. Behind this **** show of an offensive line and horrid offensive system, Pickett has only been sacked 21 times. That is one of the lowest totals in the NFL. He does his best to keep them out of negative plays, but isn't able to make enough positive plays in this offense.

To put that in perspective, the Commanders' Sam Howell has been sacked 51 times. And he's the darling of everyone because they have Eric Bieniemy's offense and they seem to be able to overcome all those negative plays. Can you imagine the nightmare if Pickett got sacked 30 more times than he already has been this season? Most of the sacks Pickett takes are when there are free rushers that should be blocked, but are not. This team's protections are constantly screwing the pooch. If it's not the OL, it's the running backs that are blowing assignments.

Tomlin should have gone with some different plays for easier completions to start the drive to make sure the clock starts running. In a 2 minute situation, it's all about getting that initial first down. You need to get that first down. That's when you go. Until you already have the clock running and you have moved the ball a little bit, you can't leave a situation where there is enough time for the opposition to go down the field and score to win the game.

That's the head coach's job in that situation. It's his only job to convey that to the OC or whoever is calling the plays.

Or, we have very good players that tend to result in just enough splash plays to keep us from losing more often than we do. That is the reality of our team. We do almost nothing all game long and just wait for a couple splash plays to go our way.

This quote from Tomlin says it all

"When you’re unsuccessful, you can look back and make a lot of those types of judgments. We don’t live like that. We don’t live in our fears. We don’t second-guess. We live. I stand by whatever decisions or play selections or ball distributions we had today."

When Pickett drops back to pass: I get the same feeling as I did in Little League baseball. When your teammate that has to play two innings and gets to bat. Just hoping for a walk (For Kenny, just hoping for a PI or not an INT).

This game was not lost in the final minutes of the game. The loss started with zero points and 64 total yards in the first half. Can't keep hoping for last minute heroics, get an ugly win, and feel good about getting the W. As usual, teams will notice what we do in those final moments, both offensively and defensively, and scheme for it. We've been lucky this year but not so much against Cleveland who shut our O down and picked our D apart in the final moments that counted. When was the last time we had 60 minutes of solid football? Ben said Cowher was a master at the clock and quickly in his head doing the math on how many possessions were left, etc. I didn't realize he was that good at it. Conversely Tomlin flat out sucks with clock management.

That is arrogance and stupidity. I get supporting your guys and not throwing them under the bus as a leader, but I actually think he believes that. You have to say something like, "when your unsuccessful to the degree we were today, you have to look at all areas with a dispassionate and objective lens and identify where you need to improve and we will do so!". there you go and that was off the top of my head!!

Yeah, it really hasn't been a strength of Tomlin. Love the guy, but he routinely makes some rough calls.

It's not an easy job, but you would hope for a little better.
