Hate to blame the owner but why has he allowed this kind performance to continue for so long? He has the power to change things and haven’t done anything to improve.

Part of the issue is that Tomlin is still coaching this team

Canada and Pickett could be back next year if they finish with a 9-8 record....10-7 and a playoffs berth, they will be back

Pickett is under contract and therefore will be back. Maybe as a backup but he ain’t going anywhere.

Rooney is a bum thinks the fans care about consistency and having the same coach for years he’s lost touch

Rooney doesn't care as long as people keep spending gobs of money on Steeler merchandise and licensing agreements. Money talks in the NFL nothing else. Stop buying and he might take notice and do something about it. Will never happen but wishful thinking.

You would have to ask them. Write them, see if you get a response.

I agree. The NFL is mediocre except for a very few elite teams. Seems the Steelers will keep what they have in place even if Mike gets his first losing season. I don't expect to beat the Bengals but if they come home and the Cardinals beat them Mr. Rooney needs to take a long hard look.

This is how I believe we will hear:

Art II will come out after the season and say "We ran the ball well and that's what I wanted" Mike does a great job in rallying the players and I will reward him with a fresh contract. He always puts us in a position to compete. Besides him gushing over the run game it will be the same fodder we hear every year from him.

    So buckle up Steeler Fans

Cowher was allowed to have a couple of losing seasons and still wasn’t fired no matter how many fans cried about it.

I think the fans care about winning and not tolerating unacceptable performance. He’s allowed Mike Tomlin to hire and retain one of the worst offensive coordinators in recent memory and is not holding him accountable for it because, you know, the Steelers way and all. I appreciate consistency, but there are times when substantive changes need to be made for the good of the organization.

True, but Cowher never went 7 seasons without a playoff win either. 3 seasons was the most.

Even as abysmal as it got at the end of Noll's era, they never went more than 4.

I don't know many coaches that are allowed a lack of success for that long.

And we're talking about a lack of success, not a lack of failure. I assume it's Tomlins 'lack of failure' that keeps him comfortable. But, if winning the SB is the goal, or at least making a serious run at it, he's been a failure, probably, much longer than any other coach in the league who's been with the same team for any length of time.
