You can't go far with this philosophy in the current NFL.Remember the steelers have no playoffs win since 2016 despite to be great in turnovers differenciel since 2019 so I don't think this is successful...You can't win big with a offense like that

Unfortunately, they aren't going to be able to play that way the rest of the season with the defense gutted by injuries.

We're not going to find out what this team could have done playing that way, not with the injuries on defense. Of course, they were very limited. They are going to have to cut Pickett loose. I'm just not sure they are going to even try as long as they are running the ball like this.

Pickett is still better than Trubisky and Rudolph. :lolol:

Worst team in the NFL six and three be nice to see some balls going up the middle, though

I'm talking more about the season as a whole. Today's game was won by the RB's and some good run blocking. The rest of the offense was pretty lousy overall.

Dobbs would be terrible with Canada.

I agree and he would be forced to be just a pocket QB with us

8 - Wallace sucks, that is for sure.
9 - Kenny misses a lot of plays, that is for sure.

I'd add to that Diontae continues to miss plays he needs to make. the contested 40 yard pass, 4thQ - HAS to be caught. He just can't do it. We MUST upgrade at WR next year. I move on from DJ after next year - he wants too much money and does not deliver enough. And I am just not sold yet on Austin - why can't we get him the ball in space?

Kenny + Canada is still very PAINFUL to watch.

Pickett will continue to get the benefit until the Steelers start losing, but I really don’t think he’s going to be cerebral enough to overcome his physical flaws. I hope I’m wrong, but he’s not dominant nor elite anywhere. He doesn’t make many real game-changing mistakes, which is great, but he’s a less talented Alex Smith at this stage.

that all said, his numbers would be better if our guys could stop hurting themselves. So many unforced mental mistakes.

Did Kenny threaten to kill your firstborn?? I mean seriously the Homer-ism (made up word meant to imply someone whose giving Homer Simpson vibes, but also downright delusional in regards to local/favorite teams and members thereof) is sickening. If I didnt watch Steelers games and totally depended on your analysis I wouldn't get the impression that Picketts bad play is any fault of his period despite the fact 90% of the QBs (in their first or second year) that are starting look better than him.

It is generous to call that a contested catch, too. The defender did nothing to affect the play. He didn't get a hand in there. He didn't hit Johnson. Johnson just let it go through his hands.

Yup. He should have had a big pass play to Johnson and he came through with two big plays on that final drive, the scramble for a first down and the throw to Pickens. It's not his fault Austin's penalty wiped that out.

and our defense - ranked 30+? WHAAAAAAT?

i know we have the injuries but, but much of that is coaching + mistakes in FA. Our soft zone is awful - yes, an all Pro out is killing us, but we will get eaten alive soon by better teams if it does not tighten quickly.

They made one mistake in free agency and that was letting Sutton go. Peterson is playing better of late, but he's a downgrade out there. The other additions for this season were good ones. Holcomb, Alexander, and Roberts gave them a formidable trio inside. That two of them were lost to season-ending injuries doesn't change that.

If this defense still had Holcomb, Alexander, and Fitzpatrick, they at least would have a shot against most opponents. Now, not so much.

Do you honestly believe that Pickens would’ve been that wide open in the middle of the field without the pick by CA3?

I don't think it is about laying an egg. They can't run the ball like they did today against the Browns and the defense is just missing too many guys to hold up against that running game.

Steelers will have to check waiver wire for ILBs.

Yes, if he had done his job properly. It's called a rub route and it is legal if the receiver in Austin's place does it right. He needed to stop and let the defender run into him rather than hit the guy with his shoulder.

IDK or remember when it 'clicked' for Ben. I do remember in his rookie year they split the field in thirds between the hash marks, good running game, great D, and good receiving group did not hurt. In the first play against NE in the play offs he threw a pick. I do not know what this scheme is, running game gets going, then abandon it. Your mammoth TE is wide open and you try and throw into a tight window, same play they have run 3 or more times in 2 quarters. We won, but man it's hard to get the tacos to stay down, lol.

I assume Carpenter or Walker will be active, but that's not going to cut it. They need to figure out how to get three outside linebackers on the field at the same time.
