What kind of friend kicks you when you are down? Welcome to reality in the world of NFL (or any sport for that matter) fans. People always talk trash like this and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Comparing someone talking trash about a football team and someone talking trash about marital, work or death is asinine.

Well, I know lots of Steeler fans that are not shy about giving fans of other teams grief when things are going the Steelers way. Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, though, they get a chance to get even. If you dish it out, you gotta take it too.

It is pretty funny, but IT IS EXACTLY how you said you'd react.

The "6" trophy come back got old 2 yrs ago. They actually make fun of it now...'wait.... wait....any time...there it is, the "we got 6" comeback.'

Thats total bull****. So what youre saying is bc I rag the hell out of my son when the packers lose its bc I like to kick him when hes down? Or rag my dad bc the skins havent won in YEARS now? Its called talking smack and I do it with all my friends and family and I expect it returned. And when something in real life requires my assistance or help for ANY of them, I m there. just like they are for me. At the end of the day, its a game and it doesnt pay my bills or give me anyone to lean on when I need it. Next time you have martial problems or gf problems or work problems, call the Rooneys or wallace or brown and see how fast they react for you. I love the Steelers as much as anyone but if your life is that shallow, I feel sorry for you.

I suggested the other person should do that, I never said I did that.

Post by Bengal Joe on his Facebook wall (and Ive seen plenty like this):

"Friends, I must ask all of you for your prayers and support. The day before Xmas I was informed that I was being laid off effective immediately. The day after Xmas my father in law was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable disease. He is in the hospital and not doing well. Our family needs your support at this time. Thank you."

Replies from everyone include: "prayers" and "best of luck" and many other well wishes.

Reply from Steeler Glenn: "Ha Ha, you F***ing loser! Get a job and tell your father in law good riddance! He let his daughter marry a Bengals fan and thats what he gets!"

Is that more accurate? Or would you just leave that post on his wall upon hearing of his ill fated luck without his post asking for support?

Just look at the responses, you're in the minority here.

Again I think you're missing the point and going a bit overboard. I never said I have said those type of things to anyone, I suggested the other person do it to teach some of his A-hole friends a lesson. If I was to say something like that what skin would it be off of yours or anyone elses back here?

so you suggest something extreme to others although you are saying it isn't something you wouldn't do

    friend: "my wife is leaving."
    you: "kill da*****"

    is that right?

But bettissb40 never said they were A-holes. He just said they posted that picture. He also said, directly to you in a response:

So it doesn't sound like he was looking for extremely rude ways to get back at anyone.

With the way we played this season, we deserve this. For the record, I'm not a smack talker unless provoked, but this was pretty mild.

    Probably more like this,

Hypothetical message board poster Darcav: "I'd say something meaningful, but I don't know how to form a proper sentence or use my caps button"

SteelerGlenn: " I hope you die in a fire"

    Lol

No, I really can't. However you want to label it- trolling or not- it's a form of flaming which is against board guidelines and needs to be stopped.

I also can't relate to why anyone would think they get to be the judge of how much of a fan someone is.

Sheesh, man the guy gets attacked. My real friends are actually not saying crap to me about the Steelers. I have a Ravens fan friend as well. If he were to post something like that I'd let him know I was ready to pounce when they got eliminated.

Now if like the OP said this so-called friend was posting multiple messages to my page just to piss me off? Then what SteelerGlenn said would apply.

I get what he's saying, but if it's enough to bother you ask him to cool it off a bit and he doesn't?

Thank you! Thank You! I love you for that. To suggest that someone might should consider talking smack about a dead family member or marital problems is very messed up. Note to self.... NEVER take advice from SteelerGlenn. My dad calls and gives me down the road every time Peyton Manning does something good just because he knows I'm not a fan of him. But if I could tell you the crap I have give my dad over the Vols playing bad or over Brady beating Manning you would laugh about it. To put on a message board that you've disowned a family member does not make you look like a great fan. It makes you look like a not so great person. When you said you "disowned" them were you being serious? Do you mean that you don't talk to them anymore?

Thank You so much TTF!!! I've been waiting for someone to tell this guy that. I serioulsly thought you made SteelerGlenn the board deputy, like another Rosco P, Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazard, but I'm glad to see the "real board adminstrator" is letting him know.:thumbs_up:

Me and a buddy watched the Cowboys/Steelers game a couple weeks back and you better believe there was some smack talk going on. Only problem is it was all directed at me, but if the Steelers had won, I would have been feeding him a healthy dose of anti-Cowgirls talk. It's all in good fun though. Hell, if you can't talk smack to your friends, who can you talk smack to?

Whether TTF understands or not, I'm sick of this BS on this site. There's way too much of "I'm a bigger than you are" crap on this site. Say something negative about the team or a specific player, suddenly you're a fairweather fan, or bandwagon fan, or 17 and not old enough to remember the rough times, or...the list goes on. It's absolutely ridiculous that anyone on here thinks they can judge how big of a fan other people are, especially when you don't even know that person on a personal level. If there's one thing that needs to stop on this site, it's that garbage. Everyone that's here is here for the same reason, we're all fans of the Steelers and we all want them to win every single year, even if our emotion gets the better of us and we trash them during down times.

The fact that some of us get so emotional that we can't contain it should show how passionate we are.

Exactly my friend! There's no need for a peeing contest over who's the "biggest" or "best" fan. It is OBVIOUS that YOURS TRULY is the BIGGEST! LOL.
