I’m not a KP cheerleader per say I just want to believe perhaps it is all on the scheme and coaching and with the right coach and the right scheme perhaps he could get rid of some of his bad habits and develop into something. With that being said I think everyone would agree that Too is on a record pace and in contention for MVP in addition to All Pro and Pro Bowl and taking his team deep into the playoffs.

I did not do Duo’s stats under Mike McDaniel but they are alot better than his stats were his first two years. I can remember everyone thinking Tuo was a bust after his first year. As a result I was curious to see his stats compared to KP’s their first two years in the league. I projected KP’s stats out based on his averages over the first 7 games this season to give him 13 games this year so we could accurately compare him to Tuo over his first and second seasons where he only played 13 games his second season.

Tuo did improve his second year while KP has taken a step back but so too has the Steelers offense as whole this year. In particular our run game and protection has taken a step back... those can not be cast aside regarding the impact they can have on a QB’s success.

Probably a better comparison is KP’s first year with Duo’s second year where they were fairly similar. My point in all of this it gives me hope and it really solidifies the narrative that the issues right now with our offense are more so coaching and scheme and less execution and personnel.

Tua has shown to be a great QB but he also has great weapons to assist him. Obviously he has taken his lumps but has grown tremendously. A major aspect of this though is Mike McDaniel; an OC who can actually play to both his QB and Offenses strengths.

The same cannot be said for Kenny. For that matter, Kenny himself has not aided in his own development; the Jaguars game being one of many examples already. However, Matt Canada isn't helping neither him nor the Offense.... at all. For Kenny... it is two folded; Kenny not making good decisions consistently and Matt Canada not placing his players in the best position to succeed on a consistent basis.

Until those two aspects get figured out, Tua will have the advantage.

I can agree with you on a lot. Simply put, we really do not know what the real issues with KP are until other problems are solved. Not saying he is the guy or not, but this O sucked before he took over, it continues to suck. Are there plays where he is not reading right, certainly. So it could be the stink we see is is him, or partly because the there is no confidence in the line and he bolts. When asked about it today Dan Patrick simply said I don't know, he has moments and like Danny Dimes certainly has talent, but the rest is left to speculation. If they get a true professional OC and other coach's will he adapt and develop? They have the rest of this year and next to see and decide. If a good QB is there in the 2nd or 3rd round they might want to invest to simply push him and see what happens. Interesting (for me) was Rick Ross stating (On Patrick) about Will Levis. Being crom central PA he would talk to Penn St coach's who looked good among QB's, while 3rd or lower on the depth chart, without hesitation they all mentioned him as a guy who stood out, transferred to KY, now starting against us. Who knows where he will end up, my point however is we do not have to make a decision on KP until the end of the 3rd year, but it never hurts to bring in someone to challenge. Might be a bum, might give you 4 years as a decent b/u, just may be your future.

I personally have always thought Tuo T was a very good Qb as long as I can remember Him. My problem with Him is I have never seen Him play a whole year without big injuries since HS. Yes some people take longer in the NFL. It's why I think KFP deserves another year. Although I would bring in a more capable backup than what we currently have on the roster.

I thought Tuo was pretty pedestrian his first few years. But who isn’t. The bottom line is when you look at him and KP there isn’t a significant difference in KP’s first yr and Duo’s second year. Keep in mind KP is playing under a horrible OC and scheme. I would love to see KP in a better system to definitively determine what is talent actually is. I agree with you on the backup QB. I would draft a QB next year maybe 3rd or 4th rd. and bring in a better option as a backup. Heck we would probably save money on the cap as Mitch is the highest paid backup I believe.

No Doubt Tuo has the advantage. My point was really in saying KP is better than Tuo. My point was more so in saying there is some hope if you get the right OC in place. Honestly we need to revamp that whole side coaching wise.

I don't think Pickett will match our two Super Bowl QB's but it will be interesting to see where he falls in order of Steeler QB's since Mr. Noll took over.

Bradshaw/Ben/O'donnell/Stewart/#5 is a tough call, Malone (nightmare mid 80's) Bubby? Maddox (great Playoff comeback win) What I'm getting at is one day I want to insert Kenny into the #3 spot.

    Kenny better than Tua?!

Have to disagree here. For that matter, as much as I like comparing two QBs, the data we have is currently inconclusive for there are too many unknowns for Kenny at present. Hell, 2024 would be a much better year to find out if Kenny can be what we all need him to be.....

..... assuming he can survive the remainder of 2023..

I’m not saying he is better. It’s more about what if? What could he become if we had some competent coaching? It’s pretty hard to evaluate any one on offense right now under the circumstances.

I imagine if Tua was our QB, his numbers would be same as or worse then KFP.

This offense would set any QB up to fail.. that said, it is a bit alarming to see our QB regress in year two.. accuracy, awareness, etc.. everything seems worse. We've seen rookie of the year type QBs go on to have forgettable careers because they just can't take the next leap and teams have film on them. I'd guess most of the good QBs in the league saw a good deal of improvement from year 1 to year 2, not the other way around.

Don’t you see how bad my spelling in my posts? Between auto correct and typing quickly on a mobile phone it’s a given. Surprised you called me out on the Tua spelling.

I actually thought the OP was intentionally messing with his name. The funny thing is autocorrect sometimes chose Tuo, Duo, of Too. At least I assume it's autocorrect
