Hack, with all due respect, and I believe you are one of the more knowlegeable fans that post on this site, Ben is NOT an elite QB. He is an above average QB, better than the majority of QBs in the league, but he is not in the category of Manning, Brady and Brees, who I would say are elite QBs.

If that is true its speaks volume about local media. A major internal squabble is going on and the cheerleaders on KDKA, WTAE, WPXI don't know it? There are three sports talk stations and they don't know about it either?

Maybe, the local guys might consider not being constant B&G cheerleaders and report news? Unless they fear being banned by the Steeler management.

I am wondering how much of Ben's poor performance deals with his kid being born. He hasn't won a game since then, and has made some bad decisions. Could he be performing poorly due to lack of sleep and not being as sharp as he could be?

Brady just had a kid and even though they lost to the niners, he lit them up. No issue!

I really like Ben and think he's the perfect fit for this team but, I cringe a little whenever they show Manning on the sidelines studying film. I don't know why Ben doesn't do it. At least, I've never seen it on TV.

or perhaps hire an oc that can design an offense to the strengths of the players at hand. Which is clearly not what Haley has done. Don't take my word for it read last weeks interview with Bettis. I'll never understand the love for Haley including this season he's had one season with a winning record as an oc and one as a hc. The only reason we'll even sniff 500 this year is because of ben's rediculous 3rd down conversion rate early on. The first year in kc he fired the oc after tc and the chiefs sucked. In the 2nd season he had Weiss and had a decent running, but he chased Weiss off and they went back to a sub 500 team. They had a lot of injuries, but they also relied on his patented one yard pass plays and predictable rb draw.

I think Ben cares more about family than the game right now.

Well here is some thought based on what I watched. How many times did we run the short passing game on to have it gain 2 yards? How many times does it work? I will agree that when it goes good it goes really good but the problem a lot of you don't seem to account for is you need good blocking in the short game. We watched Haley run the same bubble screens the BA did and we watched a similar offense being run the looked a lot like BA and the reason was the OC needs to call plays based on what he has on offense. The Jets fans screamed for a new OC and when they got one the complained because the problem was the QB, here the problem is an oline that is too big and too slow to get downfiled and block at the second level. How many times do we watch Foster completely whiff on blocks and it blows the whole play up? The short game works great with Heath Miller in it but what happens is we end up playing a team that has a good DE and good DTs and we have to keep Heath in to block on both pass and run plays due to the complete lack of any good tackles or guards, the oline is a big part of the offensive problem. Think Manning would be better? Remember when we beat him in the playoffs? The reason was his oline was banged up and when he didn't have time he isn't so good, the guy could never get passed the Pats because they chucked the reciever and blitzed giving him time for only one timing pattern read, throw it off and it was an incomplete pass or sack. Manning wouldn't last here, and the same for Brady, he isn't mobile at all and he would be out with a season ending injury after the third game. Rodgers does ok as his line isn't great but they just throw the ball 60 times a game and eventually coverage teams get tired and passes get completed but asking the guys on this team to run the short game as well as the pats isn't going to work because our oline can't get off the block and move to the second level to make space.

Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you right? There will come a day when these guys are crying that Ben was still here. It's not too often that you have an Arron Rodgers to step in and not miss a beat. 21 years, that's all I have to say.

Ben hasent been the same since he came back from his injuries, the stress and the pain has worn him down and he needs a full off season to be ready mentaly and physicaly for next year: I'm pretty sure Ben has enough room in his mansion to put a nursery room far enough away from his bedroom to get his sleep, he probably has a nanny as well to take care of the kid, so if he is losing sleep it's his own fault because he can well afford to have a team of nannys if he needs them to look after that baby...

I doubt it. the simple truth is the team (maybe just Rooney) brought in an OC and system that the offense doesn't like. sure, Haley may call the shots and have authority, but if you were put in charge of 11 guys that liked neither you nor what you were tying to to how successful do you think you'd be?
