I have said it before and I will say it again that has been he is not 100% healed. I think with all the rest he will have now he will come back next year looking like the QB we all know. But he has to have receivers that will get open quickly like the Pats, Broncos and some other teams. The O line can only hold for so long. Charlie gets rid of the ball a lot quick than Ben I think.

You can't plan for something like that, no one can forecast a guys career being shorter then average, any players career could be cut short due to injury. Besides, Ben took less punishment this year then in years past. The last 2 games he got pounded but the games leading up to them, he got sacked very little. Continue to concentrate on fixing the line and Ben will last for years to come.

I'd fire Haley in a millisecond second based on Bens answers.

i would take a young qb that can put fire under ben , he has to know if become lazy and don't follow the rules there will be somebody that can play in his place

I think the FACT is that Haley can be good for Ben's career and Ben can be good for Haley's career. I hope they BOTH get that figured out before next season!

its the timing of the thread. Sure it's not a bad idea to spend a higher pick on a QB but its a discussion for the offseason. Starting right now reeks of frustration and is just a giant piling on session filled with ridiculous suggestions like bringing in Alex Smith to replace Ben.

At what point do you stop letting a player hold the team hostage? Ben has feuded with 2 out of his 3 OC's now and also butted heads with Cowher. Maybe Ben is the problem and needs to be put in his place.

The franchise QB will win out over the OC 101 times out of 100.

I don't think I was unfair to Ben or said anything inaccurate in my original post. Ben has some deficiencies like all quarterbacks, but I do have a legitimate concern that the physical aspect of his game has always been able to compensate for the mental part of his game, which is lacking in my opinion. We need an insurance policy at some point soon and someone that will let Ben know that his career in Pittsburgh is finite so he needs to take advantage of the opportunity to become more well-rounded under Haley's tutelage.

HE needs a young guy in there. It seems the fundamentals are lacking since they have 3 "Vets". What is the QB coach doing during practice and meetings? I'm betting if they had a young guy in there they'd be more intelligent (Brilliant) on the basics. (Stole that from the Navy program)

You know like not chucking it up with 23 seconds on the clock from your own 20?

Everyone is upset at Ben cause he cost us the playoffs. I'm pissed at him as well but he's the best we had and the best we've had in a long time. Without him we have no chance. Haley needs to taylor his offensive gameplan to his strengths.

Someone else mentioned it would be to early to draft a replacement for Ben because we have out holes to fill.

Really, and then what? Call Arians back? Yep Ben wants to do what ever Ben wants to do. No other OC out there will ever get Ben to buy into their philosophy so that leave you back at hiring BA and only BA cause essentially you have eliminated Big Ben from any accountability.

Interesting, but when the offense sputters in years past its Arians fault. Now the offense sputters under Haley and its Bens fault. Where's the consistency ?

Yes, I wasn't advocating firing Haley yet, just countering the idea of losing your franchise QB over an OC. I've said all year that you need more then 1 season to see what you have at OC, now after next year and it still looks the same, that's a different story. I think Haley needs to incorporate more of the long ball, not to the extent BA was but a middle ground. It's like we went from one extreme to the next. Doesn't all fall on Ben and Haley either, the line was horrendous, hard to be successful with that type of play from your line, with no running game, you become 1 dimensional, can't run and they T-off on Ben, he was under pressure all day today.

Since when is BA the only OC out there? Anyway, there isn't an OC on the planet that I would dump my franchise QB for.

Fine, when you find me a QB as good as Ben I'll think about it. Until then, Haley can tailor the offense to better fit his QB or hit the road.

You will never ever ever get Ben to change his ways if he will not accept any new OC out there who wants to instill their game plan therefore it leaves you with only one choice which is BA.

you can always ask ben which oc he likes since if he has to be our qb and refuse to change his style , is the only option ,
meanwhile i would draft ej manuel in the 2or 3rd round

there's other OC's out there. but if they try to force an OC on the team who doesn't get along with the QB and probably most of the offense it isn't going to work. you need coaches and players that are compatible. You hire the coordinator that will get the most out of your players, not the least.

forcing your franchise QB to change his play in order to retain a coordinator who "looks good on paper" is perhaps the most idiotic thing I've heard.
