Just wanted to give some details about my trip to Pittsburgh.

Friday, Me and a buddy left my place in Ohio around 1:30pm and made the 3 hour trip. We made one stop and decided to drive to the Pro Shop at the stadium, We arrived there around 5:00. Was surprised that we was able to get a parking spot right in front of the Pro Shop. After leaving Pro Shop we made the 4 minute drive to our AirBnb.

Our AirBnb was in Manchester. After getting unpacked and settled in, We decided to drive over to Station Square, It was already dark and the City lights was AMAZING. We wanted to eat at The Hard Rock Cafe, but it was a 45 minute wait and we were both starving, so we looked across the street and went to a nice little Bar and Grill called HomeRun Harry's. Food was excellent. We were there til about 10:00pm

After going back to the AirBnb, we decided to make a 12 minute walk over to the Gentleman's Club Spearmint Rhino's. My buddy who is 35 had never been to a Gentleman's Club, so of course I had to buy him some dances, $80 for 3 songs, and I had to get me 3 songs as well...lol....My drink 7&7 was $9 each. I will say his about the Club...It was absolutely PERFECT, Atmosphere was awesome, we met a group of Steelers Fans from Colorado, there was maybe 20 customers, the staff was really cool and down to earth, There was roughly about 20 BEAUTIFUL young lady's dancing that night. None of them ever made you feel pressured. I ended up drinking WAY too much (went through 2 bottles of Seagram's 7 and started on Jack and Coke (I had not drank in over 5 years) How I drank his much is beyond me. I will just say at 3am I barely made the 12 minute walk home and I had to crawl through the front door and into bed...Pictured and videos are being kept confidential...lol

Now onto GAME DAY, we decided to make the 20 minute walk to the Stadium, Steelers people EVERYWHERE the whole walk. We get to the stadium and then to our seats around 11:00. Our view was PERFECT for it being the 511 section. Where we was it was just 5-6 seats and at top of the little tunnel that went back to the restrooms and concessions. So had NOBODY in front of us or right up against us behind us. This was also my buddies first ever Steelers game. Anyways we just sat and observed and took it all in. It was a cloudy day and a bit chilly, but when the sun made it's appearance it was comfortable. The game was exciting and it truly looks so much better on tv, being able to see the whole play develop, the route's that were run. The only time I left to go to the bathroom and to take a smoke break (yes there was a place not far from where we sat we could go smoke) So I missed the blocked punt and Safety. but seen it on the TV's they had all around. As soon as Gunner fumbled, We did see several get up and start walking out. But then the JPJ interception happened and that stadium was ROCKING. And then the big TD. GREAT TIME....After game we mingled outside and watched the Steel Drum Line and then made our walk back to the AIRbnB.

Back at the AirBnb we decided to just order a pizza and pick it up, CANNOT think of the place right now, but it was good pizza. We decided that evening to go to the Rivers Casino, was a pretty amazing place, Didn't win any big money, but in the 5 hours we was there only lost about $150...way less then I spent at the Gentleman's Club...lol. We did decide to Uber there to and from. It was only $12 each way. But much better then walking 20 minutes to and from.

Next morning we wake up and make our trip back home.

It was a GREAT TRIP and so thankful we got the WIN. I will say this though, a weekend is NOT enough time to explore all that is offered, there was so many other things we wanted to do, but just didn't have the time. So next year, We are gonna make it a week long trip. And since I have attended only 2 Steelers games, and both was against the Ravens, making me 2-0 against them. Will have to make sure to go that week. (Kidding, I kinda would like to see them play another team)

So that's my Pittsburgh weekend. I encourage to make that trip and truly enjoy yourself.

So far two members on here that I know of have made a trip to see the Steelers and both were victorious!! You came to the Burgh while the other went out to sin city. I'm sure others on here have gone to games this season. I always enjoy when a Steeler fan makes big travel plans to see the boys and they win. Sucks balls when you do all that and they lose.

Should the Steelers play overseas I bet some will make that a vacation. I know I would if younger.

I think that was the joint that was in what is now considered the cultural district. Was never at any of the ones in town but went to the one in McKees Rocks a couple of times. The last time was about 20 years ago when I went with about thirty guys on a chartered bus trip for a bachelor party. Pretty good time from what I remember.

Isn’t that where Blush is? That’s my recollection. I stopped in there with a few buddies during one of my Pittsburgh visits. The club was decent, but the Edison looked like a real dump. Pretty sure the rooms there are used for, well, you can figure it out.

Yeah the downtown sure has changed. 15 years ago I came out of the Westin with a couple friends from West virginia, we were walking down Liberty toward Penn Station, and they were remarking how nice it was. I said yeah I used to buy a bag of green stuff from a guy named Guido on this corner back in the '70s. In 79 I was staying at the Reliant Hotel in Sharpsburg by the Fort Pitt brewery in the shadow of the Highland Park bridge and used to play Canasta with the hookers between tricks. Now it's like the nicest part of town. But next time you're in Pittsburgh walk up above the stadium to Western Avenue and go in Peppi's to get the original Roethlisburger sandwich. Only they can't call it a Roethlisburger anymore because of the pissin match with Primanti Bros. At Peppi's you have to order the number seven. At Primanti's it's the end zone special. But order a Roethlisburger at either place and they'll bring you one. In the immortal words of James Harrison, it comes with fries.LOTS of fries.

Anybody old enough to remember the fire on the rivers at night when they quenched the slag at the mills? In the late 50s early 60s I used to lay in bed listening to the whistles of the steam locos Lawrenceville Mill was still running up the Pine Creek line to the mine by North Park. Mom would have died if she knew we hopped those trains. In those days Dad used to take is dahn ta Forbes field or Pitt stadium to watch Steelers who played for 40,000 a year max, from wood seats that cost five or $7.

And red brick wasn't red it was black. Everything was black. Mom told me when I was a baby and she'd set me out in the stroller, she had to go out every half hour or so and dust me off.

We have stayed over at Station Square on 2 of our 3 trips for games, usually spend 4 nights whilst there.
Anyway, have been in Home Run Harry's a number of times and is a decent pub. May not be able to do it now but you could still smoke in there too. (I know, filthy habit)

A fun and convenient thing to do when coming in from the West is park at gateway center which is pretty cheap and walk through Point Park and across the Fort Pitt bridge with all the Stiller fans. That brings you right past Jerome Bettis's pub, which has one way glass between the bathrooms and the bar which is kind of weird.

Have you ever noticed how unaware people who have never been to Pgh are about the town? I find that most people think it's literally some smoky, backwoods town with nothing to do. Like my late uncle used to say, in his heavy New Jersey accent, "What's there to do at night in Pittsburgh? There is no nightlife in Pittsburgh." But those who do visit come away with a whole new view of the town.
