Tomlin is nothing if not consistent in this one area and it's if you are a starter you don't lose your job due to injury. He has literally slit his own throat time and time again sticking to it. I rank it number 2 on his list if coaching flaws right behind the do what we do stupidity.

That is the ugliest example of run blocking I've ever seen and just shows how they aren't identifying blocks presnap. Cole has no one lined up over him but chooses the DT on the right side who is slanted away from him instead of the left that is and also has a LB behind. So instead of DBL teaming that DT and sliding up to get the linebacker and open a nice hole for Harris the interior completely collapses and Harris it hit before the goal line. Ugly

what i see is nobody hits or gets to a LB or a safety playing LB. mobility is paramount without a FB leading. we have gone with bigger linemen but have given up mobility. we are more concerned with TE's blocking and not running an extra blocker into the hole or where the hole should be. moore did miss the chip block and didn't get to the LB'er. bad play design really. not accounting for a hat on hat. harris diving into two LB'ers didn't help this situation either. keeping his feet and driving into a LB'er probably would have served him well in this situation.

He practiced yesterday, so there is a good chance he will be back.

Yeah Mac those single back runs are getting nowhere when the entire line fails to get even an initial block and Harris has to try breaking leg tackles at the line. If they aren't going to use a lead blocker they need better execution to open holes for the backs and theses guys look confused more often then not.

maybe too much thinking instead of brute force. seems like we built a brute force line and are expecting them to adjust to the scheme. wrong coaching fit for what we built? harris leaving his feet in that scenario didn't help. he is a powerful runner and should have used that in that situation. quit dancing, quit trying to fly and run through people on a one yard plunge. every play seems like one or two guys does the wrong thing for what the play calls for. mental breakdowns by the players. not just one guy but seems like a different player or two on every play.

Moore Jr. isn't as bad as he is made out to be by the fanbase. Also hard to lose your starting job due to injury. Give it some more time it will be Jones job before too long.

I'm a little more upset that they don't start Porter Jr. of instead of old man river Peterson (who should move to the slot corner) and the Jimbroni of burnt toast Levi Wallace.

Yea lets have Moore start the game. Perfect Tomlin. All the while Jones first start was as close to flawless as it gets. Plus Seumalo took a step up with Jones beside him. He is the future that needs to be on the field. Moore shouldn't lose his position because of injury? To bad you won't be here after next season unless he can excel as the RT after they let Chuks go if they indeed have you compete there.

I don't understand why some think in 2023 that this is still a thing that you can't lose your job because of an injury. This has never been true, so many players have lost their jobs due to injury...I mean it even happened to the great Joe Montana!!!!

And it's like if Cowher would have started Maddox over Ben in 2004 when Maddox was ready to come back.Make no sense

Jack Lambert took over after an injury and never looked back. Now I get it Jones started one game but to my eyes he did well and seemingly there was less breakdown on the left side, admittedly all anecdotal. As for the injury situation, you play the players that give you the best chance to win regardless of loyalty because whether you start or sit the bench the direct deposit still hits!!

I'm sure they do, but in pressure situations sometimes a person reverts back to old form....until it becomes 2nd nature. Example: No matter who the coach, or GM is with Lamar Jackson ....when in a bit of a spot.....his first reaction is to take off.

Yep. I think that's why he seemed to progress as he went on last season, but has regressed with it in year two.

S.T.D has assured me that Tomlin doesn't suck so there is no possible way he allows Moore to start over Jones! So it won't happen!!!

    Trib article:

Tomlin doesn't have a firm policy on players returning from injury automatically recapturing their starting positions.

"It's on a case-by-case basis," he said. "It has to be. I want to be fair to everyone. If they are quick learners, you don't want to exclude them. If you are a veteran player that doesn't require a lot of physical reps, you don't want to exclude them. Over the years, I've learned to handle it on a case-by-case basis."

I can assure nobody of anything. Only what I feel. I wanted Him gone a while back... the 2 years before Ben got hurt, but that year , and last year has changed My mind. A lot of other coaches would have had a bad losing season those two years, and they would have been given a pass. Although I could change My mind again. I don't stick to one thing....I change as the facts change. Not 5 games out of a 17 game season. I can't think of one team this year off the top of My head that hasn't lost to a team most don't think they should have.

Well you can speculate. Our coach has perfected the art of losing to teams he shouldn't. So yeah if his results stay the same why make a change? I can't remember how many playoff games we've won in the last 10 years. I guess that's the standard

Well, there's Arizona. The only game they won was against a team most don't think they should have. ;)

Tomlin beats bad teams most of the time. It’s one of the reasons he doesn’t have a losing record. He actually has a better record against bad teams than Cowher.
