Can anyone blame him? The browns were dumb enough to guarantee his contract. He can lay out with a sniffle and they can’t do anything about it.

And remember, Watson didn't want to play for the Browns until the Browns offered a fully guaranteed contract worth over $200 million!

It will only be over only after the 2026 season!:roflmao:

Would I be pissed if I was a Browns fan? Yes, but since I'm not a Browns fan and am able to think objectively, maybe the pain is too much for him. There's being medically cleared, which just means he won't injure it more, than there's being pain free to the point you can function normally.

I recently had a horrible blister on my heel. if I was an athlete I'd be medically cleared of course, but I'm telling you, I couldn't even put on shoes. I had to wear flip flops, because anything rubbing against my heel hurt so damn bad. There would have been no way I could have played any sport.

From what I heard on SiriusXM NFL radio, Watson has told his teammates that his shoulder is causing him enough pain that he feels he will hurt the team. If that's the case, it's hard to blame him. Or maybe he's a head case and this will become a pattern with him. Who knows

Again... this is the same Cleveland Browns Front Office that painted Baker Mayfield the main villan and jettisoned his ass out of there by any means necessary. Afterwards, this very same Front Office became completely subservient to a man who, by many if not all accounts, possesses serious issues; Jimmy Haslams servitude to his supposed savior in Watson being a fully guaranteed contract of $230 Million.

Fast forward to 2023... and the DeShaun Watson the Browns thought they were getting not only no longer exists but is very much incompetent as a whole. Given how so many had given Watson a grace period to get ready for 2023 has turned out to be all for naught. If anything, it is fair to question if Watson has the desire to be a winner. As the saying goes, "Money doesn't change a person. It just makes someone more of what they already are."

While it is early in the season, the upcoming game against San Francisco has more leaning on it for Cleveland than others believe. Going 2-3 isn't that bad on the surface but should the team lose again in blowout fashion?!..... Oof...

If he was on a Chuck Noll team he would be. You play thru an injury when possible. Larry O fine example.

I'm going from distance memory and may get this wrong, but it was that kind of decision the ended Bradshaw's career early. He has been injured and knew his arm was not ready, but was sent in anyway. A couple of throws and it was over and he never came back. A couple of years later it was reported he was working out and former players said he looked great, but Noll refused to meet with him saying he was in his new career. Yes different time, different era, but if true the middle 80;s might have looked a bit different for the Steelers. SB's, probably not, but sure would have been fun to watch TB throwing to a young Lipps and Stallworth in his last years.

Pain is one thing and the potential to do more serious injury is something else. The doctors have medically cleared him to play so I’m assuming that means that structurally his shoulder is fine and there’s no chance of additional damage being done if he does play. Athletes have to play through pain, they can shoot you up and alleviate the pain for the duration of the game. When you’re making the kind of money Watson is making, his butt needs to be on the field playing the game giving his team the best opportunity to win the game. Again, I’m assuming that the doctors would not have medically cleared him to play if they felt that more damage would result in a longer term injury. I’m sure the Browns pay their medical personnel very good money to make sure their assets are protected so it’d be foolish to clear him if there was a chance of more serious injury. So Watson, forget about your massage this week and suck it up, buttercup!

This is the problems faced when giving fully guaranteed contracts. No matter what. He's getting paid.

DeSean Watson cares about DeSean Watson and DeSean Watson only. If you need more proof look only to the massage therapy personnel that tried to help him. I believe DeSean Watson would welch on a $1 bet and believe HE got cheated.
