Muth, Cam and DJ not even on the field and Jones just got on it. Porter about to get on it more. I watch other teams and so many of them I would not trade for and that includes their QB.

The arrow is pointing up for anyone that is a reasonable person.

I am not trying to be a debbie downer but I am not high on OC or HC.
At this point. I try to think glass is always half full.

I'm with you and would love to see both go, but life is short and ya the good normally outweighs the bad. I'm also convinced there are quite a few non-Steeler fans here as well as the "I'm right no matter what" fans so I'll use MUTE quite a bit and not spend too much time here.

Yes the offense should be better with Johnson and Muth back in there.

But overall it still looks bad. The line (Cole in particular) looks awful. The run blocking and pass blocking have both been sub-par. For me, Center is now at the top of draft priority. They need to fix it ASAP.

I'm still not 100% sold on Pickett. He shows flashes, but still makes poor reads and lacks pocket awareness. Those are fixable issues, but he needs to fix them soon.

And then there's the OC. I'll admit I'm not an offensive NFL expert, but the Steelers scheme seems basic. There's not a ton of motion or attempts to create mismatches at the line of scrimmage like the really good offensive teams seem to use. It lacks imagination.

The offense has some useful pieces, but it's too hard to make systematic changes in the middle of a season and I believe that's what the Steelers need to do. I really don't see this offense being much better down the stretch than it has been in the recent past. Canada has a long track record with the Steelers of poor offensive performances under different QBs. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see that changing much.

Steelers have been a great organization the last 50 years. A ton of wins. The position of "Center" is huge for an NFL offense.

    Ray Mansfield
    Mike Webster
    Dermontti Dawson
    Jeff Hartings
    Maurkice Pouncey

Those guys were main snappers during that time. Steelers need a Center.

The Steelers have taken way too long to address their problem at center. They screwed up in passing on Biadasz for McFarland. They missed an even bigger opportunity when they took Freiermuth instead of Humphrey. They are paying for those decisions now.

It's hard to be excited when the immediate future is bleak. Yeah, we have some incredible pieces, but we're a mess offensively. That isn't going to change much this year. Pickett has lots of problems and so does our playcalling/scheme.

Canada is going to be fired, whether it's during the season or in the off season, he's going to be turfed. I have no faith in Tomlin to bring in a good OC. So far he's shown he can't bring in good assistants. Haley was a Rooney hire. So I'm expecting another internal hire. Even if the OC ends up being good, it's still a whole new system for a QB who is showing more signs of being a bust than he is of being a franchise QB. I also believe Tomlin is holding the team back and he's not going anywhere anytime soon. The Oline has serious issues as well, although I believe coaching could correct most of that.

So I just don't see us being a contender for at least the next few years. After that who knows. So much can change in 3 years.

I have no doubt we'll win some games and maybe even sneak into the playoffs. We aren't a real contender though. I admit I'm spoiled. I don't want to just watch playoff games, I want to win SB's. Maybe if I was a Browns fan I'd be happy just winning the odd playoff game, but I feel like our standard is higher.

The offense is so bad since 2021,this is impossible to be excited especially since the Steelers don't seem to believe it's a problem since they continue to keep Matt Canada

Yes,their W-L record is acceptable but if you look at the big picture, their ceilling is at 9-10 wins right now with a wild card loss unless they are lucky

I was going to rate this as very optimistic, but changed it to a like just because I love the let's get it attitude. Lol.

Let's put it this way. The Steelers have played like hot garbage for most of the season, yet they are 3-2. Imagine how good they might be once they get it together!?! I agree. There is a lot to be excited about.

That remains to be seen. If you think you can get your quarterback in the first round, you take him. You don't mess around.

Don't get me wrong. I started posting about wanting them to draft Linderbaum even before his final season at Iowa. I wanted him or Dax Hill with that pick. I just knew Linderbaum wasn't a realistic possibility because the Steelers didn't even go to his pro day.

Despite their winning record since 2021, they have been hot garbage for the most part since that time(differenciel of around -100 since 2021 even if they are 21-17-1)...They just have an incredible record in close games...At this point, barring a miracle they are what they are especially on offense

I disagree. We saw significant improvement in the offense as the season went on last year. Getting DJ and Muth back healthy is huge. I am not suggesting the Steelers offense is going to start putting up 40 points a game. But I definitely think there is room for moderate improvement.

I think they could've gotten Pickett in the 2nd or even 3rd round, but it's academic at this point

No, they couldn't have gotten him in the third round. Every pre-draft ranking had him in the first. Most had him gone before the Steelers picked. That other quarterbacks fell in the draft doesn't mean he was going to fall.

Say they roll the dice and he is there in the second round. I don't think that is realistic, but we will go there for the sake of argument. That costs the Steelers Pickens. Would you trade Pickens for Linderbaum right now?

Glad to see your optimistic. But to win championships you got to score points in the NFL.

See the 49ers, Eagles, Dolphins, KC, Bills, maybe even Detroit (Can't believe I said the Lions lol) , even Cincy if they get their crap together.

But you really need the level of QB play required to play this method. Pickett isn't there, I am not sure he will ever... ever be there....

Those are the Super Bowl contenders. Offense of power houses. Score... Score and Score more.

Our style of play can beat 60% of the teams in the NFL when they have bad days.

It won't beat these offense of powerhouses.

Yeah, agreed. I think the schedule is favorable. I hope Porter Jr can shore up the pass defense.

    And more audibles for KP

I think we will win some games, maybe even sneak into the playoffs, get knocked off and then the team does some incremental change in the off season in terms of coaching (internal hire). If we don't complete a major overhaul we will continue to be "mid" as my son says. We will improve with another draft and possibly a couple of good free agent signings but I don't think our coaching crop is elite which is what it takes now to be be great. Hopefully Rooney and Khan see that and make a the move.

talent gets you regular season wins, coaching gets you to the next round in the postseason - that’s my belief anyway.

they need a coaching staff overhaul including HC - it’s a young talented team, no better time than this offseason.

There's nothing wrong with a positive attitude.
I consider first place in div with a winning record a competitive team, that's all I need. For now.

Good post. Sad to see some live in misery but or the most part that their decision. Seems cowardly to me, but to each their own.
