Was invisible today. Didn’t get his name called one time.

    AND THAT’S GREAT!

Congrats on a great game, Broderick! Hope this is the first of many quality starts in a long NFL career!

He held up well, it will be interesting to see what they do when Moore is healthy.

I was at the game, but I didn’t watch him closely.

Im eager to see the tape breakdown of him by all the experts.

Jones seemed to hold up well in pass protection and created some space on a few runs, too.

I watched him. He held up good, and most of the time he wasn't pushed all the way back to the QB. And he is a big man, when he gets two good hands on you, he completely covers his man.
And most importantly he will get better, Moore looks the exact same.

Every play I watched him on - he did a good job.

No reason for him or Porter not to be starting from now on, but this team is so conservative and change resistant that it's probably not going to happen.

Moore looks the exact same? Except that part about not getting pushed all the way back to the QB and holding up good, lol.

I with you @JackAttack 5958@JackAttack 5958! Only one piece of caution. Sadly, many of us have seen this before; not too long ago at that.

Back during the 2020 NFL Season, a young Rookie by the name of Kevin Dotson had filled in for the injured Matt Feiler as he was out for an extended period of time. However, when Feiler was healthy, he returned to the starting lineup. Making matters worse, he returned to the playoff game in which the Steelers would fall to the Cleveland Browns...

I seriously hope history doesn't repeat itself regarding Broderick Jones. He is Dan Moores superior in just about every way at this point. Let him continue to take his lumps as he gets accustomed to the league for it will only make him better in the long run.

Porter has got to start, that Rookie mistakes excuse they use is idiotic.
#29 shouldn't be on the team, let alone starting.

yes, Tomlin AGAIN lucks into something, he was rotting this kid on the bench in favor of DAN MOORE. I had written about it for weeks.

    no wonder we suck

Jones looks like a BALLER! Ravens OLB's, DE's not that good. a great game for him to get 60 mins in....

Next season. They won't replace him this season. The cap savings by releasing him is large in 2024

Moore best be the primary back up when he gets healthy.

I don't know if Moore can transition to the right side. He is only signed through the 2024 season.

You leave Jones where he belongs, as the Starting Left Tackle.

another early Tomlin debacle - fortunately, we have only lost 2 games

this D needs to be Top 5 for any hope of the playoffs, which is about what I felt entering the season. Alex and TJ are amazing and interior guys are getting it together.

I know this is a Broderick thread, but while we're talking blocking Pickens had some nice blocks and was fired up about it.
I know some people call him little AB, but he isn't that crazy. And I Believe you need 1 or 2 players on the edge.

True, but I don't think Montravious is a starter.
Hopefully Leal can stay healthy, but it seems he can never finish a game.

My only disagreement is that Dotson was never as talented as Jones is. So while caution is warranted as it was just one game, it was against a good defense in the Ravens who used multiple rushers against Jones, and Jones has, IMO, a much higher ceiling than Dotson.

Even so, this has been a Tomlin M.O.; should the skill gap be close, Vets play over the Rookies. While many knew at the time that Dotson was better than Feiler, Tomlin didn't see it this way. Of course, while Dotson alone would have not saved Pittsburgh from getting boat raced against Cleveland, riding the hot hand may have prevented some of the damage done in terms of the team's inability to run the football that day.

If anything, the same thing is happening with Joey Porter Jr vs Patrick Peterson. Major difference is that this is both a personnel and coaching problem; Peterson being clearly not what he once was along with both Tomlin and Austin's tremendous reluctance to play Peezy Jr. That said, that problem is more on Tomlin and Austin for the promised aspect of moving Peterson around, something that had been discussed greatly during the Off Season leading up to the Regular Season, has not happened.

Given that amount of evidence available, it is very fair to question if History will repeat itself... for all the wrong reasons. If Broderick takes his lumps?!... then let him! Many Rookies do; doubly so at the Offensive Tackle position. Hell, even Penei Sewell, whom some argued should have been a Top three pick in 2021, struggled mightily after making the positional change to Right Tackle. Andrew Thomas was well on his way out of New York as his first two seasons were awful. It happens.

In short?! Me and you both agree on Broderick starting. We both though disagree relating to Tomlin starting players who are clearly better despite the experience gap.

I begin the process of practicing Moore on the right side to prepare him to eventually take that spot. I'm not sure what the Wolfleys, Trai Essexs and Ramone Fosters of former Steelers linemen see in Moore, but they've been praising him despite his lackluster play. They obviously know more bout techniques and in an outs more than me, but I just never seen it. I hope he succeeds as a swing/starting RT, but that not stopping me from upgrading RT in the off-season.

Broderick is going to be nice. Did well according to next gen and PFF.

Who calls Pickens little AB? They are so different. Pickens is big and fast with a special ability for combat catches, but his route-running needs to improve and he rarely gets much separation from defenders. Brown was smaller, but faster. He made more than his share of spectacular, contested catches. He also ran fantastic routes and was as good at creating separation as any receiver in the game in the last 20 years or so. I'm not sure I've ever seen a receiver as good at that as Brown. Pickens is already excellent and he's probably going to get even better, but I doubt he will ever create separation as consistently as Brown did.

Hold on a minute guys, I'm confused. Is Broderick Jones going to be good or not? I was led to believe that because he did not start the first game of the season, he was trash. I just don't understand this game of American football.

Thought he meant that Moore looks the same as he always has, not that he looked the same as Jones.

I watched quite a few snaps of Jones yesterday. I'm no O-line coach but I liked what I was seeing from the young man. I felt like the pass protection at times yesterday held up giving the QB a little more time to allow guys to work open. I might be misinterpreting what I was seeing...but it felt like #8 had more time. Now...he ran himself into some trouble a few times...but I thought Jones held up his end of the bargain. I can't recall any penalties against him either...and for a rookie LT...I'll take it.
