I would love nothing more than for the team to do so. However, this isn't something the Steelers do I am afraid. I seriously doubt that AR II is going to give him the boot... in the traditional sense anyways.

What I proposed basically eliminates him from the game planning aspects all together. Sure, he can have some input but not to the same degree as Sullivan; doubly so for Glen Thomas as he will still be the Offensive Assistant.

If you wish upon a star...

Canada should be let go or have him stripped of his play calling. The surprised look on his face after Pickett tossed that TD to Pickens was a tell. I believe Pickett audibled or called a different play.

This could have been a different outcome if the crows receivers could catch although we were also playing against the zebras at times. Highsmith was mauled repeatably plus the pass interference on Pickens and Washington.

The issue is there is no consistency. How they looked last week is not totally in the rear view. They were stomped on. They just can't start slow and hope that they can rally the troops back which happened today.

I want to see changes but I do feel we will have to wait till the end of the season. Austin and Canada don't have a contract after the season. That's telling. Tomlin is signed through the 2024 season.

So as i just finished my Ribeye dinner i'm going to savor the win over the hated ravens. But ugly wins are not going to come every week.

It’s not maybe a different outcome if the ravens catch basic plays it’s a blowout. Canada will not be let go after a win and sitting in 1st place although he absolutely Should be.

Actually, @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 corrected me on this. Tomlin's contract runs out following the conclusion of the 2024 season; not the beginning of the 2024 Season. My mistake regarding the semantics! :drinks:

Now, as for Canada and Austin?! Among the two, Canada is very much the first to go. That said... Austin, as you pointed out, didn't receive an extension either. Perhaps both Kahn and Weidl, along with AR II, are already drawing up the next lineup of Coaches. If this means stripping Tomlin of making those choices, or choice regarding the OC, so be it.

I wouldn't dream of trying to convince you or anyone on Canada staying. It's not like we won because of his brilliant play calling. We won because tj and the defense stepped up and the ravens recievers couldn't hold onto the ball. Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled we won but Canada hasn't shown me nothing.

Hopefully this happens. How Canada got this job is mind numbing.

Bro I thought the exact same. And the end of it I don't think he realized it was a TD.

The offense is a total clown act, no one can argue otherwise. And the D isn't that much better if we are being honest. It all stems from the same person: Tomlin. Until he is bounced, expect more of the same clown show. We are going on 7 years without a playoff win. 7 freakin' years.

I’m not sure who you’re ranting to. I don’t think anyone here is happy about the way the team has been over the last several years. But most people still try to find some enjoyment in watching the games. Doesn’t mean they’re happy about the direction of the team as of late.

Here are some other reasons to think Canada's reaction was from other than the play was changed.

Steelers usually extend their HC with two years remaining on their contract so it is still something to take note of.

From some Tampa Bay nerd fan.

Remember that play when Claypool scored a TD he jumped out of his seat?

I believe that Pickett changed the play.

I will always find enjoyment watching these guys , but with that said it's been extremely frustrating lately to say the least..Yes I'm happy they won yesterday, but i don't believe with the coaching we have in place that we can compete with the best teams in the league. The talent we have should be producing more than 88 yards in a half of football... Coaching matters and so does execution ..I'm not gonna let myself get too high on this team just yet, cause I'm unfortunately expected similar results as the last few years until these CHANGES actually happen.

This morning I see a stats that this is the first time in steelers history that they don't have a rushing TD in the first 5 games

    Correct.

Still a bit unusual Tomlin has not been extended. What makes this more puzzling is that both Teryl Austin and Matt Canada's contracts expire after this season. If the FO were to make a move to bring in their guys while retaining Tomlin for one more run, the next Offseason would be it.

It's been 2 yrs and 5 games and when I see a chart showing the pass locations it is a giant U since day one. Every pass is either an out or a sideline go or along the LOS or 3 yds behind it .

When you see it plotted it clearly shows Canada refuses to use the center of the field, almost nothing between the hash marks. No slants , no crossing routes it is so easy to read and defend its borderline insane.

I think it is shown on Bleacher Report, they even have a comparison showing the 49'rs passes plotted and Purdy is thriving throwing short passes over the middle.
You would think a guy passing infront of a young QB on a crossing route would be an easier target than a long out.

Imagine how easy it is to defend when you know they are not going to use the middle of the field, I don't see how you can pretend the middle of the field is death valley.

Canada has to go ASAP .

If Pickett is under center its a run 85% of the time if he is shotgun its a pass 85 % of the time.

Every talking head in the NFL and TV can see how simple it is. It is painful to watch.

We can't expect the defense and special teams to win us every game.

A few years ago the Boss wanted the Run game fixed.
    Stats are even worse.
    Is anyone afraid?

I also believe the play was changed, just giving all possible options to the story line.
