Some of this may be on his part, part on scheme, maybe part on playing through injury. But I have a hard time believing he suddenly lost it.

Still wish they would've drafted Humphries.

I am glad to see Muth get some time off to heal his body after the nasty hit he took in the 49ers game.

Do they get Gentry off the Bengals practice squad? He would be added to the active roster, so they would be allowed to Poach him from the Bengals.

Sad part is this might actually be good for the team, given Freiermuth’s inability to block anyone. The guy’s a decent receiver, but that’s about it.

Canada seems to want to run the ball and max protect and that’s a job more suited to Washington. This season is going to cost Freiermuth a lot of money on his next deal.

I like Muth, he’s a solid Receiver and decent Blocker ( room for improvement ) BUT he isn’t being used!!!!

I also wanted Creed ( OC ) that year and it continues to haunt us!!

Hate to see the guy hurt. TBH I expected "Muth" chants over the years just like we heard "Heath" but Steelers seem to have forgot about him this season.

Love any PSU player but Muth seems fragile. Some guys can take a hit and some guys take weeks off after hits.

Would have been better off imo if they had drafted Tyler Linderbaum when they had the chance.

I'm not ready to give up on Pickett just yet. I just didn't see Freiermuth as the BPA over Humphries, nor TE a bigger need over C, but I think they had their eyes on Green and Moore in the middle rounds and were trying to grab a couple of skill position players in Harris and Freiermuth for Ben's last ride - a gambit that didn't work out too well.

He sure hasn't been the same guy this season, I wonder if injury isn't hampering him.

Agreed. I'm sure they passed on Humphrey with the idea of taking Green to play that position later. That was a huge miss, one that looks even worse with Freiermuth looking fragile this season. I wonder if the chest injury in the opener is part of why his blocking seemed to get worse. Having a terrible offensive coordinator also hurts Freiermuth. Good play design would create opportunities for a tight end like him to hurt an opposing defense, but Canada just can't do enough of that.

Yeah, I'm thinking the chest injury is lingering for him. And I would think most OCs would have noted their QB struggling with zone coverages this season by now and would be deploying their TEs differently, especially when one has the hands of Freiermuth and another the size of Washington. The Steelers of all teams should know how much damage a TE can do along the seams of a zone.

Side note: I see I continue to call Humphrey 'Humphries' Been stuck on that since he came out in the draft. I was young and stupid then, old and stupid now.

I saw it, but it is such a common mistake that I didn't bother to point it out.

Maybe, but they seemed to have no interest in him. They didn't go to Iowa's pro day that year.

I wrote at the time that I would have rather seen them take Dax Hill or Linderbaum. Both would be key contributors right now. I didn't mind the Pickett trade, but his primary virtue for me was that he wasn't Malik Willis. I would have been happy with Hill or Linderbaum in the first, then Ridder or Howell later.

Yeah, you're prob right about all that but if they had picked TL when they had the chance then they likely would not have ended up with Pickett and as far as im concerned Muth has been a better pick then Pickett up to this point (in regards to the question that I ask myself " which Steeler pick made passing up on a good center when they had a chance look like less of a mistake?).

This has been talked about a lot, looking back it's obvious Creed was the better choice, but Muth if used correctly could be a top 10 TE, but we refuse to use our talent correctly. To me the most perplexing thing is choosing Green when other more qualified C were available in the 3rd. To draft a guy with 4 (?) college starts in that position, and expect him to start as an NFL C was overly optimistic.

They cut a WR (not named Gunner) yesterday, wondering if they bring him up to fill in the 53...or is that the change MT was promising.

To many of us, Humphrey was clearly the better choice at the time. It's not all hindsight.

Can't disagree, my point is after that decision was made it no longer is an either or for the third round, to make the decision for Green and intending to make him a starter in a position he never excelled in, let alone had any real experience in, pretty stupid, especially when there were others who had experience available.

Agreed. They seemed to be locked in on Green as their center, which caused them to pass on far better players.
