Maybe his big change is benching Pickett. For all we know, the coaching staff believe that he's the problem, not Canada. Last year, Trubs couldn't handle the intricacies of Canadas offense. This year, Pickett can't. Only one way to go now......

The team saw people mail it in yesterday, that's not just fixable by firing the OC, which should have happened already. That tackle effort by Minkah told me he quit on the play. Tomlin has lost the team I think. The titanic closed all the water tight doors but it still sunk!! Rooney has to clean house at the end of the year but he won't and we know it and that is problematic.

Well, they didn’t fire Canada, so I guess the hell yeah there’s gonna be changed amounts to this:

I like the idea of JPJ learning from Peterson, but the guy is clearly washed. Im sure it doesnt help that Cam is injured so the pass rush has taken a hit.

I also wonder how much of it is scheme and what they are asking him to do at his age.

 

Agreed, but no GM bats 100%...ever. Compared to the past few Colbert off-seasons, Khan totally knocked it out of the park.

 

He's said that over and over and over again. It's ironic isn't it? Repeating the same cliche about not doing the same thing over and over again. Tomlin's brain suffered a BSOD about 10 or 15 years ago. He needs rebooted, but with a whole new operating system.

Canada still calling plays Sundays Vs Ravens there will be no change from Tomlin zero. Steelers only hope is to go 2-15 get rid of every coach and get a top draft pick

 

They will beat scrub teams end of year and go 9-8 same script every season. Then many here will claim what a great job he did rallying the troops!

 

The problem is that Canada is the one that can't or won't get Muth involved. If LaPorta were here, he wouldn't have any impact whatsoever. The OC is lost. He doesn't understand how to run an NFL offense. He is an offensive football magician that has talented players that he is making disappear.

If he really wanted to do something that makes sense in an offense that can't do anything while saying they want to run the football, he should have had Washington playing more in 12 personnel with Muth. It would give them an advantage in the running game, but also create all kinds of possibilities with formation, motion, and play action that would help the passing game, the run game, and Kenny Pickett. It would also speed up the learning curve of Washington who would be learning the position on the fly as his role would expand.

It doesn't even occur to him or apparently to Mike Tomlin to watch what other teams are doing to them and to copy it and incorporate that into their own schemes. We keep watching the same schemes being defeated by other teams that are more creative in what they do.

The Steelers' coaching staff is currently a dinosaur that hasn't learned to adapt to the latest concepts. The offense in particular is a flawed design that can't consistently work. The route trees are not advanced, and the OC doesn't know how to tweak the system to create ways to get the ball to his best players. He is too busy making sure pet players like Gunner touch the ball 3 or 4 times a game instead of making sure Pickens, DJ and Muth get plays designed to get the ball in their hands as often as possible. He has no clue what works in the NFL, and even if he sees how another team is successful, he has no clue how to do it himself.
