I know no one wants to admit this. But DJ absence is a huge factor in the problems with the passing game right now.

Crappy offesnive scheme and a QB that is not seeing the field and feeling pressure going to check down throws.

They were going over some amazing stats since Canada has been OC on 93.7 The Fan today. Under Canada if the Steelers defense holds the other team under 22 points they are 19-3-1. If they give up more than 22 the Steelers are 1-16. The Steelers have gone 3 and out on 58% of their drives, the league average is 34%. So far this year the Steelers have gained 560 yards less than their opponents, by far the worst in the league. The list went on and on but these are a few of the examples that I can remember.

Interesting how Kenny posted stellar stats the year Canada left. While Canada was with Pitt their record was 28 and 24. His offense ranked (over his last three years) 100th, 94th, and 114th out of 130 schools.

His first year, 2016, that team had some talent. Peterman, James Conner. They went 8 and 5. Down hill after that.

Well, with numbers like that I can see why he got a shot in the NFL.

Seriously though, this is all very depressing…. And infuriating.

    Shocking stat to me:

The defense is bottom five of the league in yards allowed.

If Tomlin wants to live by the splash he is going to die by the splash. Steelers defense needs to be better.

Johnson is a very good player but the offense have always been garbage under Canada no matter who is in the lineup

They are 29th in yards on offense and defense...The best case scenario for the steelers is a 9 wins season with so many ugly win like the 2021 season

The softness of the defence is disappointing. Teams seem to be marching up and down the field at their ease against the Steelers.

The poor offence is contributing without a doubt, I haven’t checked but their time in possession stats must be horrendous

TOP is certainly and issue as a game (and season) goes on, but overall this is the same problems this team has had for years. Yes we had a short week, made shorter still by a delayed flight, but this was also a team that was not ranked highly in O, had a severely depleted O line, and we sucked in every facet of the game.

I read somewhere today that the Texans game plan look remarkedly similar that the 9's used in game one. I really have no idea how close, except we sucked. Not even talking about O, we sucked worse there, and I have little faith they can fix the suck.

Oddly enough if DJ was there, the stats may be worst since DJ leads the league in yards-lost-after-catch. :)

The broken record should really be the OP's question. We've pretty much identified the issues with the offense, there are several.

Yes their senior coaching staff are ex 49ers and the scheme is similar, lots of well times slants and quick throws, the Texans execution was excellent and it completely negated the Steelers pass rush.

The performance was very disappointing from a Steelers POV without a doubt, particularly on offence. Stroud looks the real deal and the coaching job was great so kudos to the Texans but that is not a good Texans D, coming away without even a TD is embarrassing, even for a Matt Canada offence

    They should sit Kenny Pickett.
NOT for any reason the silver monkey is alluding to but more for the fact that Matt Canada has failed everywhere he has been.
Throwing your franchise QB into a system of trash is not going to work with any QB in the entire league right now.. Mahomes could not make this work.

So, what would I do if I were anointed King Steeler?

That offensive line is GREATLY underachieving. If you do not win the line of scrimmage, you will not win the game.
    Coach? Staff? Players?
I saw Collins available... Someone is gone.
Jones is not going to sit on the bench.

    OC Matt Canada.
I'm not re-assigning him, I am running him off the property and out of the entire state.
Tomlin has connections to some coaches that are not working, I am sure he could get someone to come in and assist.
In the meantime, Kenny sits until I can get something working and he is fully healed.
We are also going to throw the ball to Pickens as many times as possible....
And we will pound the rock.

    The Defense.
Austin is ok till seasons end but then it is time to move on.

    Tomlin himself.
It was a horrible decision to keep Canada around.
It wasn't exceptionally wise to keep Austin around.
We've got to have an understanding that either we made bad decisions, or if they were his, that cannot happen ever again.

Folks what I saw was a mess Sunday.
I mapped about 6 offensive plays and threw the computer on the floor.
This guys offense is similar to St. Mary's Catholic Women's flag football.

    How’s this for a broken record…

    IMG_3231.jpeg

And get used to it because I’ll continue to blame Canada, complain about his play calling and gameplanning and basically just continue to talk about what a SUCKY OC he is until he is mercifully put out of our collective misery and TERMINATED! Hope you enjoy reading.
