I was looking at the stats for RBs, and here are the stats for Dwyer and Ellis-Green:

    Dwyer: 131 attempts, 532 yards, 2 TDs
    Green-Ellis: 263 attempts, 1080 yards, 6 TDs

Their yards per carry are almost identical, but Dwyer has half as many touches. Hopefully Dwyer shows his stuff and gets touches on Sunday.

Probably because dwyer has to share the load and ellis is the main man.....it is surprising though it looks like ellis has had a nice year and dwyer not so much but if you give him all those attempts he too would be having a pretty nice year!

More evidence that Tomlin's running back by committee approach is a BAD strategy. No RB is allowed to get into a tempo either for the game or for the season. I think Dwyer could have been that guy but Tomlin knows better I guess.

dwyer is holding dwyer back. injuries and fitness. work ethic is a concern with him. he seems to do just enough. the talent is there but the willingness is lacking for him to take the next step. so far at least. that leaves us not knowing and we will have to have a backup plan and that guy has to have feature back capability.

i agree dwyer is looking fat and slow in the last games , but i can't understand why the conditioning coach is not helping

So Dwyer is not prepared. The same reason we are told Mendenhall is sitting.

    I call :bscow:

Where are you getting this information at? The injury part I get for the couple games he missed.

Dwyer is a bit of an enigma. He has flashes of brilliance and then times where he is flat out horrible. Combine this with the fact that he takes himself out of the game after 2 carries really makes me question his desire to be great. Does he not train hard enough? Where is the conditioning coach? If he doesnt put forth the effort to be an NFL caliber back, why does Tomlin keep him around? Is he smoking pot? I just dont understand the caliber of players on this team. There are way too many questionable athletes and marginal players on this roster. The Steeler teams I grew up watching were physical, talented and just plain out more determined to beat you anyway they could. The Steeler team I have seen on the field the past 3 or 4 years dont seem to "want" it like they should.

I hope we don't make a habit of comparing our players to some of the more mediocre starters in the league.

Green-Ellis is a very mediocre talent. Sure, he'll get you 3 yards a pop almost guaranteed, but that's about all he'll do. There's a reason NE got rid of him, he's not a playmaker. Why on earth do people want running games that mimic what the game was in the 80's and 90's? The game has changed to smaller, faster, playmakers at RB rather than these plodders like Dwyer and Green-Ellis.

I'll take a guy like David Wilson over Dwyer or Green-Ellis every day of the week

Here are a few more stats for your entertainment:

    Green-Ellis: 263 attempts, 1080 yards, 6 TDs, 4.1 yds. ave.
Dwyer: 131 attempts, 532 yards, 2 TDs, 4.1 yds. ave.
Redman: 101 attempts, 380 yards, 2 TDs, 3,8 yds. ave.
Mendy: 34 attempts, 113 yards, 0 TDs, 3.3 yds. ave.
    Rainey 25 attempts, 100 yards, 2 TDs, 4.0 yds.ave.
Big Ben: 22 attempts, 91 yards, 0 TDs, 4.1 yds. ave.
Leftwich: 1 attempts, 31 yards, 1 TD, 31 yds. ave.

According to yards per carry, our two QBs are our best rushers, with Lefty a 31 yards per carry average. Suit him up on Sunday!!!

if you add up Dwyer/Redman/Mendenhalls carries and yards = 266/1025 , I would say the running game of our 2(3) headed "monster" by committee is just as efffective as Green-Ellis has been for the Bengals. Not sure thats a good thing.

Agree.. pick your back and stick with him. One of the craziest seasons i ever witnessed. Havn't seen any confidence nor rhythm this yr. CT's ideology has failed thus far.
