    A 9-7 record in...
    1980: Bad!
    1990: Bad!
    1993: Bad!
    2009: Bad!

    But a 9-7 record in...
    1984: GOOD!
    1989: GOOD!
    2000: GOOD!

What would a 9-7 record in 2012 be?

    bad

because from a pure talent point of view, the 2012 team should be competing with HOU and NE for the #1 seed, yet thanks to mental mistakes and terrible execution, they are on the ropes and it's far from certain that they'll make the postseason

not trying to make excuses for them, but i would also add injuries as a big factor.

    yeah, sure.

but that's not something you can really prepare for, you can work on those other two issues, which for some reason the whole team (from top to botton, players and coaches) seemed incapable of doing

this season just has seemed like the perfect storm. i cant remember the last Steelers team that looked this bad and unprepared. im not sure if its a lack of coaching, leadership, skill, desire, conditioning, maybe their too old, maybe their too young at key positions, what ever the reason is they just dont look right.

At this point, it would be just enough for the Steelers to make it to the playoffs. So... good.

ImHo, injuries isn't the reason we're 7-7, the reasons Cory pointed out is. You'll never see a Belicheck coached team play like this!

it would depend, for me, on whether the 9-7 became 10-7 or 9-8. But, any playoff year, I'll never complain.

I think I would like to see 13-7. Works for me.

Yes...it's all of those things. And everybody seems to think that they can just keep on doing the same thing and somehow the "switch" will be flipped and they will dominate again.
There is no sense of urgency this year. All of the losses to sorry teams were greeted with the "it's only one game" and "we can't deal with the past, we have to take care of this week's team" statements.
The only statement that has been accurate would be "it is what it is" because this team has been a piece of crap against inferior competition and that can't be denied because "it is what it is".

I'll take 9-7. Would like for the Rats and Bungholes to be 9-7 also.

    This
Year 2 of injuries decimating this team. O line in particular. When was the last time the same 5 guys started more than 3 games together.
