Good ol' Bleacher Report, where any idiot can write anything they want, even if they have no clue what they're talking about.

There's a lot of reasons for our lack of a run game. Injuries to the Oline and a backup RB in Dwyer leading the charge have been the two biggest problems by far. Those problems may not exist next year. Decastro and Adams should be healthy and will be further along in the development process. We will have hopefully addressed our RB problem as well. So next year we may very well have a strong running game. Yet this idiot who wrote the article feels we should completely abandon our offensive system, a system that the Rooney's demanded, because of injuries and lack of production from our RB's, two things that may not be problems next year. That's brilliant. Anytime there's injuries, we should fire the OC or change the offensive system completely. There's a reason this guy doesn't work in the NFL like many other true writers have at various points.

I wonder why he didn't include man games lost to injury, times Ben has been sacked, drops from WR's, fumbles from RB's and WR's, etc. All those would also be telling of our lack of offensive consistency, yet he forgot to include them, likely on purpose.

It's no secret what our offensive problems have been and anyone can see it plain as day. Our WR's have been awful this year. Our Oline has been awful this year. Our RB's have been awful this year. Ben has been injured this year. None of those things are a result of the offensive system in place.

Show me an OC on earth who will have success when the QB is hurt, most of the Oline is hurt and struggling, the WR's are dropping and fumbling balls, the RB's are not getting yards and are fumbling balls, the defence is not creating turnovers and ST's is not giving us good field position. If any OC can succeed with all those things happening, by all means, hire him and fire Haley. Problem is, that guy doesn't exist. No team will overcome all those problems and be consistently good.

Exactly. As much as Ben drives me nuts sometimes, make no mistake about it, he's our MVP. He's not expendable, at least not unless we address the QB position in the draft. Until we do that, Ben is definitely not expendable.

i totally agree with the article. i have questioned all year this type of offense. we have to make way to many 3rd down conversions per drive in this system. thats a tough chore for any team. ben has been very good at it so far.

our line is not built for it though. to run it properly we have to be able to run screens and have runs off tackle and around the ends. we can't do that with these guards. that is the biggest thing holding us back. dink and dunk helps keep him upright but it also limits the stregnths of our qb. when we can't run to the outsides or throw screens it makes us much easier to defend.

max, colon, foster and pouncey have played most of the year. i really don't blame it on injuries to the O-line until lately. our guards limit what we can run. it's like taking half of your playbook and throwing it away. the run was supposed to set up the pass. you can't make a living off of running 80% of the time or more between the guards because they are to slow to get outside and trap or lead block.
