Disagree...Jack WAS atrocious, He didn't make ONE TFL, Sack, Interceptions, FF, or FR...I don't know how that is even possible

And why didn't they resign Spillane then?

Are you a Steeler fan? Maybe a Browns fan up there in Mercer county?

Disagree. 1st while Lebeau was here they were already starting to run a D that wasn't by His philosophy.....2nd....Terrible 1st round draft picks on the D didn't help.

LeBeau time was up, his defenses became predictable, and it took too long for some of the rookies to get on the field.

Spillane's arrow was trending up. As far as Jack and Bush know one could make them better. Bush is on the bench and Jack retired. Jack was battling injuries as Blast said and Bush had air between his ears.

Or Flores should've stuck around longer to get his shot, I understand it was a promotion to the Vikings DC job, but they're going to be bad on defense and don't have much talent.

I agree it took some time to get the rookies on the field but how has this defense been since he resigned and Tomlin took over? Not great. Actuallly the rumor is that Tomlin pushed him aside while he was still here the last 2 seasons.

I believe a few players have said it....also U didn't need anyone to tell Me ....I seen the philosophy change. We never rushed with DEs, and NT 90 % of the time throughout Lebeaus time....all of a sudden we started to , and our DE where being drafted of a totally different kind than before.

That's defensive philosophy not defensive play calling which is what I responded to .

I'm pretty sure if you watched the games, you could tell he wasn't making all the calls, we have had this conversation on here many times Arthur Moats said Tomlin would only make like 5 calls a game.

Yep....They let the defense get old ,without any young talent. So many missed defensive draft pics over a ten year span, with only a couple hits( Hayward, Shazier)

The Shazier injury killed the Butler defense and they still haven't replaced Shazier.

An injury to one man explains away a man's 7 years at his position. Well, I've never heard that one before.

Other than Watt, the Steelers picks in the 1st round on defense during those years were not great. And Butler was the DC in name only. Tomlin has been the de facto DC for years.

    Tomlin is the DC, period

Austin runs Tomlin's def w Mikey making calls here n there

This is a great representation of the Steelers issues - Tomlin's ego had him stepping on Lebeau 2012 ish on

I am not sure how many of their assistants would be in the same positions w other nfl teams
