Tomlin wanted him to tutor Porter Jr. Well hows that going? Shoots his mouth off and gets owned. Where was the tell? He got told. Hopefully Porter Jr doesn't fall into a $hit talker. Just play and shut your trap. Let your play do the talking.

They had the chance this offseason to get rid of that bum. But Art II doesn't want someone sitting on the couch eating Cheetos on his dime.

So here we are. He is a Tomlin direct hire. If the offense fails bingo another scape goat.

They best straighten out that offensive line before Monday.

Memories are short around here. I remember suffering a hellacious beatdown by the Ravens during opening week '11 at Baltimore after SBXLV... and we had 2 HOFer's still on the roster, Roethlisberger and Polamalu. If we beat the Browns.... that will erase the stench of week 1 vs. 49ers. If the Steelers were going to lose... might as well lose to the best NFC team.

The O line hasn't been straight since Munchak left, I'm sure it will be fine by Monday.

Said it last week that I didn't like this and had hoped that all this nonsense left with Juju and Chase. Mixed responses then, not so much now.

Not quite a punchline, but the 49ers did use us as a punching bag

I don't think we're in a must win scenario this early in the season. No one calls a baseball game after a team goes down by 4 runs after the 1st inning. Nonetheless, I am not sure all that ails this team can be corrected in just a few days of practice. What I would hope to see, other than a win, is that we perform better as a team and trending the right way. We've been 0-3 and survived before and I look at the mid way point of our schedule to proclaim a prediction of how this season will go one way or another. Since leadership hasn't/won't change, this is what it is and maybe after half the season is over, they get their act together and start to look competitive. Just hope it's not too late. Then again, if we win out, that'll be fine too. JMO>

Again, the loss itself doesn't sting.

How the team lost?! Completely different.

Well... we can go back to many opening day debacles for the Steelers. 2001... prime example. Steelers couldn't do squat vs. Jaguars... team was completely wiped out of both sides of the ball. The team looked like a total trainwreck. Sound familiar? They went on to go 13-3 and lost the AFC Championship vs. Patriots because of poor special teams play. I'm not convinced that this team can't rebound. There's too much talent and Steelers are younger than most teams. It's gonna take time, but I don't see this season as a lost cause.

It's crazy that I, of all people, am playing the role of optimist on this board.

It's easy to overreact, especially after a game like that. And I'm guilty of being one of those types.

But keep in mind that a LOT of teams fell flat on their face in week one. And even great teams have bad games. I'm not saying we're a great team. I'm just saying that you can't judge a team on one game. What's the old Paterno line? You're never as bad as you look in a loss, and never as good as you look in a win.

Yes, we have glaring problems. Yes, this organization is notorious for ignoring glaring issues for way too long. But the world isn't ending just yet.

Did any of us truly believe we were SB contenders this year? Sure, we all want to believe. But in all honesty, did we really? I think most of us expect them to be better this year than last (whether that equates to more wins isn't even guaranteed). And we may still be a playoff worthy team. But top tier??? The Niners ARE true SB contenders. And we had to face them way too early in the season to have any real shot. No time to gel. No confidence. No team identity. No momentum. Pre-season never means a damned thing.

I have my usual gripes. But I'm not going doom and gloom just yet.

We had a discussion a couple years ago after I blamed Deuce for the state of the team. The result of that exchange was that actions would speak and we'd see what transpired. And here we are. It's not going to get better until there is some level of accountability in this organization and I don't see any signs of that happening. Art appears to be fine with 3-in-55 and decent regular season records. He's either delusional or simply does not care that his team hasn't been a contender in a decade.

Its game one. Stings for the effort across the board sans a few. At least it was an NFC team.

Now if they lose to the clowns in a somewhat similar fashion then its time to Ring the Alarm.

Its a divisional game. To me its an early must win. Need to wash off the stench of last Sundays beat down.

    Hence my point.

No one on the board will say that the 49ers were not a Super Bowl Team before the game. Hell, the biggest question was how well would Brock Purdy look after Offseason surgery. That much was answered. Kenny Pickett and the Offense showed us what they can do in the Preseason and doubly so against Buffalo's starters.

While it can be argued that the 49ers did in fact have a better roster than the Steelers heading in, it also can be argued that it should have not been a double digit margin of difference there. Mind you I did in fact state that both the Offense and the Secondary would experience growing pains during the early stages of the Season. That much was on display yesterday. For that matter, that by itself should be a surprise.

What is the surprise during that game has been seen since 2021; inefficient, inconsistent play calling. Kenny's performance doesn't help at all but certain plays that Canada had for the team in both situational and goal line stands have been just as unsuccessful as they have ever been. Again, if this were an isolated incident, I would agree.

However, we have three years of evidence to support the unreal levels of inconsistency. At some point, if it is not a talent issue... it then must be a Coaching One. Since 2021, Pittsburgh has scored 20 or more points nine times.. nine. In an Era where scoring should not be as difficult as years past, 20 points, with this level of talent... on both 2022 and doubly so now?!?!

C'mon Heinz..... this is unacceptable. How much more will this be allowed to continue should be the question now as opposed to how much more alone.

I agree with most here. There needs to be a major overhaul from top to bottom, starting with Tomlin, Canada and Austin. We need a new HC, OC and DC. Tomlin's approach has grown stale, and I'm sure there's some good, young up and coming coaches/assistants in the NCAA and NFL ranks that could allow the Steelers to start fresh with a new approach. I'd like to see them get a head coach with a background in offense, while hiring the best DC we can find and get an OC that can develop O-line, Pickett, Harris, DJ, Pickens, Friermuth, etc. Unfortunately that is not going to happen this year. Steelers are handcuffed to Tomlin until he decides to retire and start his new job as NFL analyst at ESPN, FOX, CBS or NBC.

I have no problem with ArtII and Khan. Just wish the Rooneys would move on from Tomlin.

The Bengals like to run their mouths after they beat the Steelers, one time Boyd said the Steelers quit, players love to talk trash when they win.

Yeah, it's probably isn't a good idea for a current player to have a podcast, Peterson runs his mouth but couldn't back it up on the field.

I wasn't in favor of the Peterson signing either, a 33 year old CB who got busted for PEDs a few years ago, I wanted them to re-sign Sutton.
