This will be a big loss if he’s out for a while.

Father Time may be catching up with Cam. Those nagging, soft tissue injuries start to rear their ugly heads as we age.

Groin injuries take forever to heal completely. He may feel it the whole season unless he can stay out for a few months.

I didn't really want to say it, but Cam might be over the hill. We probably should have moved on from him.

    yes

one of my ALL TIME favs....but this will happen. If we have not been watching, he AIN'T getting any younger.

We saw a strong roster vs. an average one, yesterday.

plus a strongly coached team vs. crap coaching.

Going to be a long season of him playing and getting hurt everytime he tries if he's dealing with a groin injury.

Why they put him back in is mind boggling.

We just spent a high draft pick on a DT in Benton. But yes they will need to prepare for Heyward's eventual departure.

Fehoko will be called up. Good thing he is on the PS. Cam unless its a mild strain and no issue with it becoming worse will be out. And Ogunjobi"s foot injury can't be trusted not to hinder him.

After his latest signing the Dead Cap hit is enormous until 2024. He will be here in 2024 then they should move on. He will be 36 at that time.

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsbu...Contract,average annual salary of $16,400,000.

yep - he needs a good 4-6 weeks to heal. and depending on severity, this may just shut him down all year.

    SUCKS

No he doesn’t. Pretty sure he hasn’t missed a game in the last several years.

Teams take a chance when it comes to signing high-level players on the wrong side of thirty. That said, Heyward has been productive throughout and has missed only two games since 2017, so IMO it has worked out well for them.

With respect to cap amounts/dead money, the Steelers pushed more money down the road in 2021 (his extension was signed in 2020) by converting Heyward's roster bonus and most of his base salary (down to vet minimum) to a $9.4MM signing bonus. This elevated his annual prorated bonus amount to $6.4MM. That said, if the team would have wanted to cut him this past offseason, they could have. Remember, while it would have created $12.8MM in dead money, his cap number is $22.3MM, thus they still would have created $9.4MM under the 2023 cap.

He gets banged up because he goes insanely hard.

    Gotta love him for that.
He needs a Ring to ride off with.

No, he doesn't. Somebody already pointed this out, but I thought I should provide statistical evidence to demonstrate just how badly you missed on this one. Over the last six seasons, Heyward sat out two games. If I remember correctly, neither was due to injury. I think both were final games of the season with the Steelers having already clinched a playoff spot, so they rested many of their starters. The guy did have a major injury in 2016, but he has been an absolute rock ever since.

I'll use this reference again because you deserve it. Your post was bad and you should feel bad.
