We got a great deal out of him. No ill feelings as we move on and he becomes irrelevant.

I am not at all surprised to see Claypool point fingers at the Steelers instead of taking responsibility for the decline in his performance. The guy clearly has an opinion of himself as a football player that does not fit in with reality.

This guy is done. To blame the Steelers at all, much less still blame them, is absurd. if he is really thinking about the Steelers then his head is not right.

Claypool was a 2-15 player last year(2-6 with the steelers and 0-9 with the bears)

Never know how these things play out, but several years from now we may be saying that Claypool made one great contribution to the Steelers: he indirectly made it possible for them to draft JPJ.

He's an idiot. He was formationed out of those situations because he is the only 6-5 receiver I have ever seen that made himself 5-6 when it came to high pointing a ball.

Why is this a thing? There are literally 10+ threads about how horrible Matt Canada is as an OC, probably be mentioned 50 plus times in the GameDay thread today. Who knows how many threads over the years on Tomlin's faults as a head coach and AR2's failures for not being his dad or grandfather and yet we will sit here and rip Claypool for making a true statement.

I mean come on, is he wrong? Honestly can anyone say that the switch from primarily the X receiver to the slot was a bad choice? It was a dumb move that goes hand in hand with making DJ the best route runner into an outside guy instead of running the whole tree. Last year before the trade they should have been running Claypool and Pickens on the outside to force dbl coverage on them running go routes and DJ feasting on the crossing routes. Yes Claypool deserves a healthy helping of blame for his attitude and failures on the field but let's not tear the guy down by defending Canada's and Tomlin's coaching choices

Well he’s not wrong that he is not a slot guy, I actually thought he might excel in that roll but what he leaves out is he stopped producing as the X receiver which led to the switch.

Classic example as how not to go get a ball, Pickets first interception, might have been his first NFL pass even. Claypool had textbook alligator arms.

Wasn’t high pointing and combat catches supposed to be his best skill too?

How is he going to try and keep explaining away falling to the ground after every catch?

Yea, "for some reason," with that reason being, specifically, that they were just truths. But other than that, rock solid logic.

Claypool is a big receiver who plays small. He’s terrible at high pointing the ball, has alligator arms and for some unknown reason seems to not be able to catch the ball AND stay on his feet at the same time. Plus his mental acumen and football IQ is very questionable. Claypool has no one to blame but himself for his failings as an NFL receiver.

Claypool was the 67th best WR coming into the season according to ESPN fantasy football. He was targeted twice with no receptions this week. He's topped 30 yards receiving once in his last 9 games.

No, high-pointing the ball/making combat catches was never supposed to be a strength of his. In fact, it was something that was a weakness at Notre Dame, too. People just assumed he would figure it out due to his size and athleticism.

I think that you are right about it being Pickett's first attempt. Claypool went up against a much smaller defender and failed to get the ball, leading to an interception.

It's a thing because Claypool is making excuses rather than owning his own failures. He was terrible after going to the Bears last season and he was terrible yesterday. It wasn't coaching. It was a player who seems to prefer making excuses to doing the work to get better and he deserves every bit of mocking he gets.
