Really. I bought My Jeep brand new ,only put different wheels on it, and had it for 16 years , and still sold it for almost half what I paid for it, and no I don't do trade ins.....Ive bought 5 brand new vehicles, and I never use a trade in....I sell My vehicle then take the money......Maybe You guys are buying the wrong vehicles....like The Steelers picked the wrong Guy in Green for center.
Again if You pay over 40 thousand dollars for anything, and two years later can only get 10 thousand dollars for it .....that sounds like you made a bad choice.

I've noticed that Jeeps and Subarus hold their value better than most other vehicles.

This is the stuff I look at when I buy. I like to see what holds value the best in the last 20 years. Because I usually by brand new, and Keep for about 15 years, and then sell it , and go buy another.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that drafting Green was a good pick. That was a bad pick. It happens.

Cutting him would've been a good move. It's called cutting your losses. Finding someone willing to give us something... ANYTHING was a great move. That's getting something for nothing.

Instead of using a car as a metaphor, think about Green as a lottery ticket. You bought a lottery ticket for 5 bucks. They had the drawing, and you didn't get a single number right. That ticket was useless. Then Jeh1856 got a bad batch of Geritol and buys that useless ticket from you for $1. Yes, the initial $5 you paid for the ticket was a bad decision, but you can still be glad you recouped SOME of your losses (although your conscience should bother you for scamming the elderly).

Well I can certainly say that is one of the most interesting metaphors I've heard in a LONG time! Being elderly I forgive your indiscretion

I have never bought a new car I just don’t have the need for new and typically the depreciation in the first two years is substantial

I find something with 30k miles or less then put another 200k on it

    Then it’s worthless

I don’t work anymore so my current 2014 with 150k May be the last one I own

    In 1972 I bought a 1964 Corvair for $45

A few months later while I was bouncing down a bumpy road the engine fell out and landed on the ground

Keep it till week 4, Greens engine should fall out sometime during the game, then we will move it to junkyard status.

That brought a dormant gray cell back to operation

It was a convertible and also did not have a drivers side window or a rear window so when it rained you just got wet

Plus it leaked a quart of oil a day so when I parked it I put a pan under it and then poured it back in before moving on

That’s because our roads freeze and thaw

I had a chevette and while driving one day I noticed the rear tire coming out of the frame..whatever. I jacked it up and pushed it in to get home, one jack and push in every 2 miles or so.

You obviously haven't been to West Virginia. Much worse roads than PA.

My dad bought a early model 4 cylinder 3 speed chevette and hatted it so bad he gave it to my brother and I almost brand new

I looked at it and told my brother you can have it

    I bought a GTO

My brother was stationed in Germany and they needed a driver to drive a supply truck from Kaiserslautern to Pforzheim during a snow storm. The officer in charge asked "Is there anyone here from Pennsylvania?" and my brother put up his hand. The officer then said "You're my driver, anyone that can drive on those ****ty roads and in the ****ty weather you have can drive anywhere."

I took visiting relatives over the hill and thought the woods from Hooterville PA to a restaurant

When we got there one said something about the remote roads and I said I took the straightest route

    He exclaimed “Straightest”

    It’s all relative

Just to nitpick your moms cousin is not your second cousin she is a first cousin once removed

Your moms cousins child would be your second cousin

I actually invite for thanksgiving a third cousin twice removed

    Per the Farmers Almanac
