Among those released by the Steelers include veteran tight end Zach Gentry, who was drafted by the team in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Michigan. In four seasons he played in 40 games, starting 26, and had 39 career receptions for 303 yards. Also let go was safety Tre Norwood, a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko, who signed with the Steelers in the offseason after spending the last three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition the team released cornerback Luq Barcoo, running back Greg Bell, receiver Jordan Byrd, receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski, defensive lineman Jonathan Marshall, offensive lineman Ryan McCollum, linebacker David Perales, linebacker Quincy Roche, defensive back Trenton Thompson, running back Xazavian Valladay, cornerback Chris Wilcox and tight end Rodney Williams.

I’m interested in what they have going on behind the scenes considering they kept both punters in the initial 53 man roster

nothing truly surprising, except cutting both Muse and Kwiatkoski. McCollum means they have no true back up C,

did not notice this, you do not keep 2 unless one is injured. Strange indeed.

They are moving Pressley Harvin III to Guard since he and Kendrick Green are roughly the same size.

Mann will take over punting duties.

Don't be surprised when a back up center is brought in and Mann is traded. Wouldn't be surprised if Pierre is let go yet for another CB.

I was pulling for Fehoko. Cutting both Kwiatkoski and Muse is a head scratcher. Maybe they have plans to occasionally use Herbig inside. He looking too good to ride the bench

That would be a mistake at this point. He's not unknown on the outside anymore after flashing in preseason. Not going to be able to surprise those tackles with his speed or power. Let him cook at edge and not throw anything else on his plate.

I think keeping both Sullivan and Riley is the reason they went with 4 ILB. Both provide different skill sets in the Nickel, both play special teams,

Interesting note, 21 of this years team are new, 6 of the 7 draft picks this year are on the 53. Trice is on IR and would have likely made the team. We indeed have a new GM.

    Why 2 punters???
I truly believe there would be zero need to punt all season.
Come on Tomlin!!! What are you doing? Keeping one that is better at drop kicks so we don't really run up the score on our opponent?

I think it’s a move to trade Mann, for a draft pick. They knew he punted too well, to just cut him and have someone sign him. Might take an undrafted guy you would have released and move it a chance to he a 6th or 7th rounder for him or maybe Harvin will be the one moved.
They are risking losing a fringe guy over it perhaps, but this is either smart thinking or over thinking
But it’s a very unorthodox way of thinking

They will probably try to get a 7th rd pick for Mann.
