I could see us make a small move. Nothing crazy though. Trubisky counts as dead cap, not savings, if cut. Not happening. Although Olczewski could save 2 million and give us the ability to have a 3-4 million pick up. We usually like to go into the season with a cap buffer in case of emergencies.

Thanks!. I really thought trubisky could save us money.

So oswelski and gentry I can see being cut. And that would put us into 14 million under.

Kond of an interesting take on budget surpluses. It was 3 to 5 million in earlier years and as everything else minimums and other expenses go up. While not a big thing if you place a guy on return IR the guy you call up from the PS gets full salary for those games, plus the guy on IR, alos just bringing a guy up for one game he gets that full week salary. Those little things can add up over a 17 week season and hopefully the playoffs. I remember one year a bonus that someone earned was not figured in, it was an honest mistake and still it cost the team a draft pick. So when you get down to what appears is micromanaging it all has a purpose.

I don't think Gentry would actually save us much as he is signed to the vet minimum, so even a minimum rookie getting on the 53 would equal maybe 250,000 less. Gentry being cut is purely positional decisions, sp teams, and who they feel best fits the schemes they desire.

yea, but a rookie minimum is 750,000, so the savings on a 53 man roster would be 250,000.

I know you weren't asking me, but he doesn't. I can't see why they would give up anything of value for him. Right now, I wouldn't take him for free. It's not just that I prefer Holcomb, Roberts, and Alexander. Robinson and Muse are also better uses of a roster spot. Hell, Muse might even be a better linebacker. Throw in that he's a hell of a special teamer and there's no way I'd want to cut him to make room for Bush.

No it doesn’t , Green is probably headed to the PS…… Dotson trade adds critical money to our cap for the season.

Actually, it more than likely opens the door for Spencer Anderson

I would have felt better with Dotson available off the bench and they really didn't get much.

I get the thought, but going into his last year I doubt they would have resigned him, they get an extra 4th next year, the rams 5th could actually be higher than ours. it gives more trade ammo for the next draft, and Omar seems to know how to use it.

    4th is better than a 5th
    5th is better than a 6th

Good move. Dotson just couldn’t get it together.

I don't really care if they would have signed him or not. This makes the 2023 Steelers a little weaker.

I was surprised, saves about 3 million, another vet cut or trade and it might free up to look for a vet CB.

They really like the rookie Spencer Anderson, I think he spent time at all five OL positions in camp.
