No reason to believe that there wasn't a fire to begin with. His rookie year he was thrust into the role, his second year a new OL coach, and now he is getting better. He was always somewhat of a project to begin with anyways. I'm betting he is right on time with what we thought he would be.

It wont be a waste at all. We drafted the player we thought he was going to be, not the player he is now. Young, athletic, and fairly inexperienced. We don't need to rush him, just coach him and watch him improve. He SHOULD walk into next season as the defacto starter at LT if he hasn't won the job by year's end this year.

    This.

Broderick needs to develop. He doesn't need to be rushed out there for the sake of showing off the First Pick. For that matter, Broderick will have playing time; tackle eligible plays.

That will be the fast track for him.

How did Dan Moore do at RT tonight?

I think I remember when Jones came in, they moved Dan Moore to RT.

Moore is a pros, pro. He is a guy that seems to work hard and is willing to help other players improve. Every team needs players like Moore. Moore might not ever be great or dominant but he is good enough to start in the NFL. He will have a long career in the NFL (baring injuries) even if it is not with the Steelers.

I have a couple examples of why sometimes taking a little more development time can be better.

Exhibit A.) Troy Polamalu didn't tear it up at all his rookie year, many fans were saying this could be a bust.
1st Ballot HOF player, best safety Steelers ever had.

    Exhibit B.) Chase Claypool
Comes in Rookie year, tears it up, we say what a steal we got in a 2nd round pick. We got ourselves a dude....
Then over next 2 seasons, reverts backwards, gets found out, exposed, traded to the Bears and we say, boy what a steal we did to trade him to the Bears for a 2nd round pick...

So, if it takes Broderick Jones more time don't panic, You don't have to start him out of necessity, Dan Moore Jr is more than capable...

Max Starks put it so well the other day, and take it from him he played the exact position as Broderick Jones

"Broderick Jones is not in the Microwave, he is in the Oven." You can pull him out until he's ready, he needs more time to develop.

Plus, a Tackle is sure to get nicked up at some point. Even if it is a remainder of a game, or a week or two, etc. He will get enough reps. If he gets in, he might just play well enough to keep the job.

I don’t think he played RT last night

That was just a practice thing to give him some reps for versatility if for some reason Chuks is not starting

Moore played right tackle on the third possession last night. Jones took over at left tackle on that possession. I think they did the same thing for a possession against the Bills.

He did. Started at left tackle for a few series and then switched to right
