When we drafted Broderick Jones, I thought Dan Moore was done and probably on the trading block, but Dan Moore has proved me wrong so far. Dan Moore has look very good so far and probably will start as the. starting LT. I liked how Dan Moore came to become a mentor to Broderick Jones and never complained (unlike. what Big Ben did to Mason Rudolph). If Dan Moore continues to play well, Broderick Jones will be the backup. My choice to have Dan Moore move to RT and Broderick Jones play LT and Chucky Okoafor to the bench or trade him for a 4th round pick. I don't want Broderick Jones to be bench.

Dan Moore was a penalty machine driven revolving door last season. It appears he has taken his criticism seriously and has been working towards a brighter future. He is to be commended for those efforts thus far. Hopefully he continues to improve throughout the season. Broderick Jones is a rookie and should be the back up at the start of the season. He should also see significant playing time in that role when DM needs a breather. Big Ben is not the only QB to not want to help out his potential replacement. He probably saw early on what we all now see in Mason Rudolph which is nothing special.

I agree. If Moore ends up being solid as an Steeler, all the better for us. If we end up with an improved Moore at LT, and Jones at RT, that’s fine as well. I am not, and have never been, impressed with what Chuks brings as a starting T.

your first statement is a little misleading. especially the last season part. didn't he have 6 penalties last season? in 17 games i might add. revolving door is also misleading. he gave up two sacks in the first game of the year. the whole line was fairly new and was not real good early in the season. they got better as the season went on and so did moore. most of his problems were earlier in the season as was the rest of our o-line.

moores transition reminds me of marvel smiths to an extent. marvel wasn't the greatest starting out, good but not great, but transformed into a very solid player.

I feel it will be the other way around. Moore will take the RT spot and Chuks will be traded next season saving 3 mill and change.

Why would Moore be on the trade block? He will be a solid swing tackle after Jones mans the LT spot.

I like Moore. Yes he had his struggles last season but the real penalty machine was playing next to him. They needed to upgrade the LT position as Moore does have issues with speed rushers. Although so far he has shown solid improvement.

i don't think it has to be set in stone that jones will automatically have to be used as a LT. if moore continues to play well at LT why change two spots instead of just one? a RT can bring value as well. i'm not sure i'd be trading away chuks either so soon. maybe he goes to the swing tackle gig. this isn't just a one season plan i hope.

Moore has experience both at left and right tackle. He can, as it was so bluntly put, wipe his arse with his left hand. Jones doesn't have that experience or ability. And Chuks goes because you don't pay a back up tackle starting tackle money.

Maybe it was the fire that was lit under Dan Moore’s ass by the Steelers drafting Jones as his “replacement” that has spurred on this potential improvement.? Competition is important and the fear of losing one’s job can be very motivating. But it creates a great problem if the Steelers have 3 tackles that can play.

Dan Moore is not Johnathan Ogden but he is a lot better than he made out to be especially for a later round pick.

He has held his own against Myles Garrett, Myles hasn't destroyed us, and he has limited him more than many think.

Moore is a bit grabby but many can be.

I think some are disappointed Jones didn't unseat him, but realize Dan Moore is going on year 3 as a starter at LT, and Jones is a Rookie

LT may be the hardest line position to play in the NFL as well. Who should be worry is Chuks he might lose his spot to Jones or Moore at some point at RT.

I know some are sad about Jones but Max Starks put this well about Broderick Jones he is in the Oven not the Microwave. You got to give him some more time.

6 penalties his rookie season and 10 penalties last year and yes he was a revolving door when he wasn't caught holding the defender. The end result may not have been a sack or even a loss of yardage but I can remember a bunch of times where he let the pressure through. So far this preseason the results are encouraging. I am hoping he keeps that up and have heard he was a workaholic in the offseason so that is something to be happy about as well.

Way too many people act like Dan Moore has been a disaster, and that he can't get any better.

He is still a young guy and has only played a couple seasons. I think he is going to continue to get better as he transforms his body to its ultimate form for the position, and he continues to work on his technique and mechanics while doing more specialized training to help with weaknesses in his game.

I won't complain about Moore. He came in here and was throw into a starting OT position. What would the team have done without him? I really want him to get better, and I have always believed he is going to be a better RT than Okorafor.

If he starts this year while Jones continues to develop, he is still helping the team and Jones to perfect his craft. He has been a very valuable player for this team, and he has many more chapters to go before the story is finished IMO.

If Steelers can get Max Starks-like production out of Moore... it will be a win. Starks played both RT and LT.

I didn’t think Moore was that bad last year. He was a below average to mediocre LT, which isn’t what you want ideally, but given his age and where he was drafted it’s to be expected. He still has room to improve, but I’d be ok with him as the starting LT this year and maybe moving him to RT once Jones is ready. It’s not like Moore was ever as bad as Kendrick Green.

Some of us have seen steady improvement since He started....some already made up their minds.
He was thrust as a rookie into LT....He has played that position since day one. Now all of You that thought He sucked.....How good do You think Jones would do in the same situation????.....Notice they are not even going to try it, and Jones was a 1st round pick. It why some of us thought the pick was not the best idea....because We seen Moore getting better every game.....not because We don't think Jones will be good. Big difference. Some see a sack from the left.....,and people say .....Moore sucks.....not taking into account....what the D was doing, what the rest of the OL was doing, or what the Qb did.

Moore didn't have what they are giving jones. Moore was thrown into the starting lineup. Jones was a first round pick, he's being given time. Moore was a fourth and has been starting for three years now. Jones hasn't done what Moore did. Put that in perspective.

He reminds me more of John Jackson. Maybe it is the jersey number, but Jackson was also thrown in to start as a rookie at left tackle. He had some very rough moments. I distinctly remember a particularly awful performance against Pat Swilling in New Orleans. I'm amazed Bubby Brister walked away from that one in one piece, but Jackson eventually became a solid starter.

I still think Moore is going to end up at right tackle, if not this season, then by 2024. I think, eventually, their best alignment will be Jones at LT and Moore on the right.

Holding is a murderous call, 1st and 10 and 1st and 20 (or whatever down) is a big difference. Watch how often an offense punts vs. over comes a holding call.
The percentage is way up on the punt. Drive Killers.

But on the flip side it can be good to take one from getting your Franchise QB killed and losing an entire season.

    This.

Don't forget Mac that Broderick Jones will not have to worry about Muscial Chairs with his OL Coach... I hope. Seriously hope they keep Pat Meyer long term. He is arguably one of the biggest X Factors of the Season.

I think the way Dan Moore has fought to retain his starting job is commendable. He could have rolled over after the Steelers essentially showed him a vote of no (or low) confidence in drafting Jones, but he has worked hard to continue to improve and that says a lot about this young man. And I think in the long run, that's going to be good for Broderick Jones as well. The fact that he has to EARN the position and that nothing will EVER be given to him in the NFL will be a great character builder for him. Ultimately, I'd like to see Moore make the transition to RT, which he has some familiarity with, and have him and Jones make up a solid LT/RT tandem for a long time.

Plus Moore will have a much better guard next to him this year which should help.

We can’t have Broderick Jones sit on the bench for the entire season. He has to start somewhere during the 2023 season. We moved up to pick him to be a starter this season. A total waste if he is on the bench.

No, it really isn’t if he becomes a long-term starter.
