As of today we have the 16th overall pick in next year's draft. Would you trade Wallace next offseason for a 2nd round pick to say the Rams?

We could have a 1st round pick and 2 second round picks to bolster our defense?

I am just playing GM..I would do it...heck I would attempt to get the Amerson kid that Hack likes so much...

just one problem with that idea: Wallace is a free agent after this year (unless I missed something), so unlike he gets tagged, he can't be traded

    1. The trade deadline has past.
    2. Wallace is an UFA after the season, he can sign with whoever, unless the Steelers sign him before free agency starts or the use the Franchise tag on him.
    3. Quit talking about trading him, it can't and won't happen.

I should have clarified it in my original post...I meant sign him and then trade him...

Not only no but heck no, I know Wallace has dropped some key balls this year but this guy can really do some damage. A lot of fans don't like Wallace because he held out demanding more money but let's face it, football is a business to these guys and they are trying to look out for their future because once they stop being productive, we as fans will want to kick these guys out on the streets. Our Fan base is very hard when it comes down to the players to include me, we are a "what have you done for me lately type of crowd" and when the level of play goes down with some of these players, they want to have some type of financial security to lean back on but Wallace still has a lot to offer.

After watching sanders and brown dropping balls yesterday, i'd make it a package deal and get rid of all of them, or maybe find a new receiver coach, how about hiring Jerry Rice for a receiver coach, he wouldnt put up with these clowns dropping balls every sunday for one minute, hey Jerry we need ya, teach these guys how to catch a ball for us....

If he's to much money for us then how are we going to sign and trade him? And why would he sign with us only to be traded? He can just sign where he wants. I don't even know why I'm arguing about this.

No thats no the reason. Actually, I loved the guy, wanted him here for a long time. BUT....

He turned down $50 MILLION. He was told to show up at camp and you ll get paid, he refused both offers. Still wasnt upset at the guy. But when you demand that kid of money, youre expected to play at a certain level, which hes not. 4 games at least would ve been won if he simply held onto the ball. He has no heart, he gives up on the play, and he doesnt fight for the ball. He supposedly admitted last night to not running the route all the way thru in OT. Fastest man in the NFL and he doesnt even attempt to tackle the guy. Then he blames it on not getting passes for 2.5 quarters and he loses focus. How many passes did he drop against SD before half way thru the 2 quarter?

Is he a threat? Yes he can be. Is he worth $50 mil? Not only no but HELL NO!!

signing him would require a large signing bonus and that is not transferred to the team a player is traded to , it has to be eaten in the form of dead money by the team that signs him ....

so unless Wallace would be willing to sign a contract with no signing bonus ( yea right good luck on that happening ) no such deal would ever happen .... EVER .

the problem is that Wallace is the only person (besides Heath) to catch some balls lately. AB and manny hasnt done sh!t.

well actually , you can place a tag in order to work a long term deal , that tag can be rescinded ...but has to fall into certain time lines and those I am not sure of when they fall calender wise ...to be honest though the Steelers never play that sort of contract hokus pokus ( maybe they should ) but that is never been in their MO ....

I would only trade him if we got a mid to high FIRST round pick and a sceond round pick AND if you do trade him, trade him to the NFC!

Personally, I think the tag would taste better.

So someone has to teach an NFL receiver, that has been catching passes for years and years, how to catch a ball? Those lessons were taught loooooooong ago.

If the Steelers sign him it's going to be to keep him. I'm pretty sure Wallace would have to agree to any trade. Why would Wallace sign with the Steelers only to get traded right away? He's a free agent at the end of the season and can sign with whoever he wants.

Why on earth would Wallace do that? Sign with the Steelers so they can trade him rather than cut his own deal himself?

Why on earth would the Steelers do that? I suppose you could franchise him, but seriously after all the moaning and groaning about MW performance in 2012, do you want a repeat in 2013? Where now you're paying him $10MM vs $2M?

You are right that he can do some damage. He's been doing a LOT of damage with his drops, poor route running, inability to block, and lazy pursuit after an int. I know it sounds harsh but I just don't think Wallace is all that. His negatives FAR outweigh his positives in my opinion.

True story right there...we just need to part ways and focus on picking up a solid corner and linebacker in the draft. I'd rather let Cotchery and Burress fight it out for that receiver spot and draft some young "high upside" player and see what he can do. Heath can pick up the slack. He's a Gronk-in-waiting who can also block!

The Steelers usually let FA's(see Ike Taylor) explore the market,if some bone headed owner is willing
to pay Mike Wallace the kind of money he and his agent are looking for then so be it.
The Steelers IMHO will not tag Mike Wallace they will either sign him to a fair contract (Steeler terms)
or he will walk, and we will go on from here. Omar Kahn knows what he is doing,(he will probably be doing
it in Cleveland next year). Its too bad Wallace and his agent had overvalued his talents. IMHO look
for Mike Wallace to be gone.

I actually thought I had read that Wallace's agent was really frustrated with him.
