I watched the Denver Broncos game last night and absolutely loved what Sean Payton did to Denver's 1st team offense.

He kept them on the field until they got it right. The 1st team offense played 4 series, almost the entire 1st half of the game, but they finally got it right on their 4th attempt.

Russel was probably mad that he was even playing in Week 1 of the Pre Season as most starting Vet QBs had week 1 off: let alone playing 4 offensive series in the game.

    Russel: Are we done yet
Payton: Do you think you got it right that series
    Russel: Well, No
Payton: Then I guess you are not done yet.

That's good and all what Payton did, but it's preseason, I'm not risking injury with my starters.

Explains a lot about last season. He’s a talented linebacker but maybe his desire to play was waning even then.

Sometimes a guy stays to long and either the GM or HC have to make the hard decision, many blasted the Org for disrespecting Troy at the end, but it was time. Others like Hines get told by an ex teammate (the bus), 'can you actually see yourself in another uniform?" That they cut him not desiring to pay the contract amount is understandable, that they apparently made no offer might mean they saw something deeper than his play. Just sayin'.

Given how the Dolphins made those picks into the likes of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Bradley Chubb, I would say that is about as good of a haul as one will get (all info courtesy of Barstool Sports). Mind you, Vic Fangio does know a thing or two about how to deploy 3-4 OLBs properly. I would imagine that he can get more out of Chubb than others would. Again, quite the haul for Miami.

As for San Fran, let this be a reminder of the NFL Draft but also let it be a reminder of something else; experience still matters a lot for the QB Position. Even if the Offensive System is designed to be 100% QB Friendly, why Kyle Shanahan thought that his Offensive System was full proof is beyond me. This also leads me to Brock Purdy.

Note before how I said the Shanahan Offense is tailor made for any QB to work in. I don't doubt how well Purdy is. However, I do doubt how much better he can be; the opposite of Kenny Pickett. Between the two, Kenny's upside is enormous in many ways as Purdy is Kenny in terms of intangibles but either one to two steps below him in every physical way possible.

Finally, as for Trey Lance, I feel truly bad for him for, among all the players I wanted to succeed, he was either at or near the top. Sadly, that will not happen with the 49ers. I would imagine he does get traded but doing that is going to be tough as hell!! Why?!

If an Offensive Scheme designed to be 100% QB Friendly doesn't work..... what other system is going to be available?! Never mind that though. Can Trey even stay healthy?!?!? :hmm:

Rarely do these "ultra-athletic projects" work out. Just because they have size, can throw the ball 75 yards on a line and run a 4.35 40 doesn't translate in being able to play quarterback effectively in the NFL. They're good for a few gimmick plays or to get the defense off balance on occasion, but that's not sustainable for the long-term. It's amazing how some of these scouts and personnel folks get so enamored with athletic ability, they overlook their inability to play the most important position on the field effectively. In the NFL, reading defenses, anticipatory throwing (throwing your receiver open), delivering to multiple levels of the defense and in multiple zones, looking off safeties, knowing when to live to play another down (don't take unnecessary sacks or throw stupid interceptions because you're overconfident in your arm), and effectively maneuvering in the pocket are all more important skills than throwing it a mile and running at the speed of light. I've seen it happen over and over again.
