    Ok let’s debate this

If Ben was still here he would only play a series or two in Fridays game but Kenny doesn’t have years of experience

    Kenny needs the work

We don’t want him killed with a third string line

If he plays little and starts the season slow “Fire Tomlin”

If he gets hurt “Fire Tomlin”

Soo… how long do you play him Friday night

    Exhibition game 2

    Exhibition game 3

(I’m showing my years by still calling them Exhibition games :smiley1:)

Game 1 should be a couple of drives. Then again, Mitch really doesn't need the reps; ditto Mason Rudolph. Tanner Morgan probably should man the entire second half.

Game 2?! One Half. Still young and still needs those reps. Young QBs typically don't figure out the league in just two years. Yes, their self improvement, discipline and increased proficiency in fundamentals can assist (greatly for some) but it is often not enough for them to fully grasp the most minute of details within NFL Defenses.

Game 3 should be no more than half the First Quarter; the whole First Quarter if the results demand it.

    In short?!

No doubt Kenny likely has gotten better. How much better we shall see come this upcoming Friday. How long he is in there will determine if he still has some ways to go or is continually progressing at a rapid pace.

I would play him and the OL the 1st. half of all the games ..Only year 2 for him and the play designs ..Now is the time to iron out the kinks not the 1st. game of the regular season.Mix in all the WR'S and RB'S keep the plays simple , but let KP make some calls and let him use some hurry up get polished up..

I imagine his playing time might be dictated a little by how fluid the offense looks. I would expect him to play a full half in at least one of the games if not multiple.

Hell, even if Game 1 looks great on paper, I would imagine that Tomlin will stick him out there still for Game 2. Stack performances is something Tomlin always enjoys preaching... so I can imagine Pickett and the young Offense will not be immune to their continued fine tuning.

Last year, the starters played the entire first half in both side of the ball in the 3rd preseason game

Maybe that will change this year and I think our offense needs playing time but much less for the defense

I go with the .....it matters how well they look in determining how long they play.
We have many guys that need real time to look at against someone else.

Overall unit performance will dictate I'd think. But I'd guess the O will play a full half in one game. If I had to guess it would be game 2 as that's the dress rehearsal... where they'll mimic a pseudo game plan and prep week. Game 3 is getting a final look at bubble guys and get out alive to start the season.

If I am Mike. I'm going to getting my potential starting offense at least 4-5 Quarters of play in the 3 pre-season games.

    Game 1 I go 1 to 1.5 Quarters
Game 2- I go 2 Quarters or one full half
    Game 3- 1 Quarter

This is a younger squad they need real reps.

Now on defense, guys like TJ, Cam, Fitzpatrick, it might be a lot less for those guys.

Since the ‘starters’ on offense aren’t fully established at every position just yet, maybe go with this week’s first team for 3-4 series, however long that takes. Then pull them once there is enough on ‘film’ to evaluate. Now it’s 2nd team the rest of the way.

    Possible pre
I'm just as interested in who makes the 'taxi squad'. or is it 'Uber squad' now?

Even with a pre-season O, i think game one he should get a couple of good series, by good long sustained drives that highlights running and passing. By second game they should have a realistic feel on who the starters and specialists are, I would like to say whole first half, but at least a couple of series into the second quarter. Third game a couple of series to get a rhythm, but Canada's intense scheme is going to take a half a season to perfect, so no rushing it.
