I think this team is loaded ( minus Tomlin and Pickett ) who I'm not Fans of at all, and who are quite honestly the 2 most important pieces...

Maybe to much pressure on one guy, but I believe this season hinges on Pickett...We have everything else we need...He needs to step up...a lot

The ones crying and grabbing at straws are the ones who just expected a contract extension. Glad it didn't happen. So glad.

I believe that Omar has a different vision. A vision of playoff success and Super Bowls. I believe he has Art II's ear.

Playoffs or bust. So a little fire under Tomlin's @ss hopefully does the trick. Winning seasons are cute. Playoff wins are what your in this business for. Hasn't been very successful of late. Very late. These are my expectations as a Steeler Fan. Playoffs and getting #7.

    A message has been sent.

No we hope the pieces are there. What if JPj sucks, and PP just doesn't have it any more, and KFP didn't progress, but regressed instead??? That's just 3 guys only, but it would be enough for us not to be very good.
Lord I don't want that to happen, and please don't let that jinx us.

Let’s ignore the fact he is signed through the 2024 season. Let’s also ignore the article states the rumor he would be extended this year was started by a few members of the media. That the Steelers typical mo is to resign coaches with one year left.

Has the pieces in place? He has a middle linebackers core that may be average at best...draftees unknown and an unproven QB (which allegedly is the most important piece). Once again you guys like to talk out the side of your mouths.

    Symantec’s

    The parts are there

Maybe they aren’t the best parts and some are old parts but right now they are the parts we have

That's the key word in your statement,( may ) be average. I don't think that will be the case with our inside linebackers. What we have seen the last several years shouldn't be a tough job to exceed with vet players that have shown in their career so far. They have all been solid in their play to this point. Getting rid of Olsavsky should help.

Premature...yall could have at least waited till K. Pickett could prove he can throw double digit tds at a 3-1 TD/INT ratio and lbs could show they could cover a TE or rb coming out the backfield.

To me this sounds like a man thinking about retiring.

“Wow, I hadn’t even thought about,” Tomlin said. “I’m just at the stage of my career where I don’t care about contracts, to be honest with you, man. I acknowledge that I’ve seen more days than I’m gonna see. That’s just the nature of this thing. I appreciate the opportunity. I’m singularly focused. I’m thankful that I’m in a stage in life and in my career that that’s a non-issue for me.”

You do realize they make the playoffs last year if TJ didn’t get hurt and they have made several good moves since then.

And unless you no absolutely nothing about ball, it was easy to see Kenny get better and better each week. So naturally you think that means he will take a step back this year.

I don’t need to wait, like I said, they would have made the playoffs last season if TJ doesn’t get hurt. I believe in the pieces they have in place.

They upgraded at ILB and you are over emphasizing how much RB and TEs hurt them through attacking that position.

You keep mentioning Kennys interceptions without recognizing those came in the first few games and then none over the remainder of the season.

Yes, his TD’s have to go up, that’s a pretty easy bet they will.

I'm generally not surprised by him not getting an official extension and his words as perceived as pondering retirement. He got a lifetime gig with the Steelers. And when the time is right he'll ink a new deal. To me I wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon and lands a TV gig. But I think he wants a ring with this group first.

I'm thinking , you think Omar has a lot of Power..The Rooney name is still the one who signs the paychecks...As long tenured and reveered that Tomlin is inside those walls...My guess is that the " new " Guy has VERY little say...In anything Tomlin related ( money or contract wise obviously )

you do realize last year has zero.bearing on this year right? Different team, different schedule…

kenny did get better. However, he still struggled with some things as well. Everyone hopes he will take a significant jump this year, but we haven’t seen it happen yet. It’s the same with every other player from last year. We hope they take a jump from year 1 to year 2, but it hasn’t happened yet. We also don’t know what this years rookie class will do. We hope they all can make significant contributions, but that isn’t very likely.

In case anyone has forgotten, Devin Bush couldn't cover to save his life.....and he was soft and not physical enough against the run. He became a complete liability after his injury. It doesn't matter if it was psychological, physical, or simply effort and attitude. He wasn't getting the job done. Pretty much any starter-level ILB is an improvement.

Maybe the new ILBs are not the greatest in coverage, but it would be very difficult for them to be worse than Bush. We know that both players are better than Bush against the run. I understand that Jack was in the middle as well last season, but he didn't light the world on fire either. I look forward to having new blood in there, and we still don't know if the team will be making another move to add to the LB room before the start of the season.

I like Cole Holcomb. I think he is an underrated guy that is a quality player.

Coach Tomlin and the team decided that the ILBs needed to be replaced. Some people ***** that Tomlin doesn't have enough turnover and stays with players too long. This is a bold move, and I think it was a necessary move because that group was the weak link of the defense last year.
