did any of you have a chance to read this?

    https://steelersdepot.com/2023/05/b...till-clear-favorite-for-steelers-kicking-job/

here is one of our problems. we have had SO MANY problems that we do not focus on the finer points of the game - one of them is our ST's. Danny Smith sucks, he is another that should have been fired years ago. Boswell is not his fault per se, but Boz is no longer a wizard. He is extremely inconsistent, year after year. HOF / All Pro one year, bottom of the barrel, the next. Time to plan his transition. He is part of why I don't see us getting past 10 wins. He is no longer elite. and with this half baked offense, you need an elite kicker to save you. Boz was that once upon a time but no longer. I have written this before but since I read this piece, this AM, thought I'd share for your viewing pleasure.

for you youngins here, the game is 3 phases: Offense, Defense AND......SPECIAL TEAMS. Between our suck punters and Boz struggling, it hasn't been very special....

They always look for someone who can do it as good or better and for cheaper.

"Boz is no longer a wizard". Yet they just signed him to an extension. Your contention is based on inaccurate assumptions. You state HOF/all pro stats one year, the next bottom of the barrel. really??? he had 3 good/great years here, one bad one and actually took a pay cut. His next 3 years were great, last year he was injured and it really showed in his kicks between 40-49 yards. But to make the claim that he is no longer elite, based on a year where a groin injury (that does not affect a kicker at all, right)had lingering effects is just nonsense. He may be heading south, or he may rebound like he did from 18 to 19...we have no clue.

How Danny Smith and Matt Canada still have NFL jobs is well beyond my ability to comprehend.

they signed him last off-season, I think? we got robbed, last year.

if he sucks, he sucks. he sucked last year. yes, he was injured. but he is VERY STREAKY. amazing here and there , and a head case for long stretches. he needs a sports psychologist, IMO. that said, he will lose us games this year if he plays like last year. Keep him on a short leash. We gambled......and may have lost.....we will see.

he can't even kick it into the EZ......

If You have paid attention He has only had 2 bad years. Strangely they both came on seasons He was hurt, and had just got a new contract deal.

Where the F do you come up with this crap? 3 solid years. a bad year when unjured, then 3 solid years and another injured year. Then you say he is VERY STREAKY....head case for long stretches. Dude there is no basis for your statements. and yes he was injured during his 'suck' year. it even says so in the article you posted. Duh.

"He can't even kick it in the end zone", well yes he can..and has. Did the injury prevent deep kicks? Did the scheme call for him to not kick it deep? In some cases yes to both. I have no idea if he comes back strong, or not. But most everything you have posted about this is just bullsh*t.

    Cheaper.

Boswell's only vulnerability is his salary, when compared to the Kicker's that finish above him every year. No matter how you sort it he is not a Top 5 guy.

His cap hit this year will be $5.62 million. 71.4% FG percentage last year. Damn!!!! that is bad.

Hell, it's like he is a backup QB or something.

    3 2 1 .....

If age is anything to go by, we should probably be looking for someone new soon. I thought he was alright last year for the most part though.

I think he could give us 1 more year.

I’m still trying to process the astonishing revelation that Boz doesn’t kick as well with a leg injury as he does when he’s healthy. Amazing concept.

LOL, yea, O'well. Not even necessarily disagreeing, Boz has to come back strong and he may indeed be vulnerable. That said, unless he pulls some games like the Dallas kicker did I think they give him a longer leash, 6.4 million cap hit to cut him does make a difference. lol

Not worse than having a backup Qb that's cap Hit is higher than over half the starting Qbs in the league.
