Benny Snell was never resigned, and they just gave away his #24 jersey so I am assuming he will not be back. And No Running Back in the draft; I thought they might have drafted one middle to late.

Samuels was a great story last year, but any chance they bring in a veteran with a little more experience.

Interesting names still looking for a home. Some of these guys are going to need to bow their head and put away their ego to find a J-O-B pretty soon..

How old was DeAngelo Williams when the steelers brought him over to be Bell's backup?

The best under 30 class still looking for a J-O-B.
I wanted both the Kansas City RBs Hunt and Williams when they left KC.
I have no Idea on what Zeke is going to be wanting.
And, I thought Fournette was in his 30s

The guys at the top of the list have probably been advised by their agents to wait for camp/early season injuries to sign into a better situation than a 3rd string spot.

Zeke, Fournette and Hunt would never except a 3rd string roll and the others, meh.

They could have easily brought back Snell, surprised they didn’t actually but that tells me they are happy with who they have on the roster already.

Something is wrong if we are not looking to bring in a free agent RB to compete for the backup job. Samuels was a fun story last year, but we do need a serious upgrade if Najee goes down.

I will be shocked if we go into camp with our current backup RBs. To me there is not a winner in the bunch.

Warren you mean? Why would you think he is a flash in the pan? The one-two punch him and Harris provide was very effective and should be even better behind an improved line.

Should also preserve Harris since he won’t have the wheels run off him.

If Steeler bring in another back its a 3rd string type.

I'm not sure where we stand on the 90 man limit, but I know we are close. We went into last year with a UDA rookie earning the back up role and Snell, Mcfarland as the other roster guys. IDK if Master Teague is worse than Snell, but it won't be much to be his equal. How they fit Conner into the scheme will depend on how many RB's are on the roster. If they keep 2 TE's (Gentry gone) and keep Conner as a 3rd option and FB, then it possibly open the door for another guy, I think at that point it's sp teams ability and possible other functions. Teague, while in no way a FB, can he play the blocking role if needed? Can he play special team? I think Pottebaum is interesting, but for him I think it comes down to scheme. Can he play Sp. teams, do they see a roleguy like D. Watt as necessary?

You don't want Hunt, he didn't like being a backup to Chubb, so why would he come here and not play special teams.

Agreed. Our 3rd back must play special teams.

i like our RB room. heyward as someone mentioned is capable of that role as well as teague and mcfarland. the UDFA that we picked up as the return specialist is capable of some reps there as well.

Yea, I honestly do not get this thread, lol Of all the areas on the team this is probably the last areas of concern. We have no idea how they will look at filling the FB role, either they have a plan or camp will sort that out, but the bodies they have, both starters and back ups are more than capable at this point to get the job done.

Byrd is like 175lbs, if he sticks it's for returns not to be an RB.

I have been a fan of Fournette ever since I saw him playing against the Steelers. He was running over defenders. He may have digressed, not sure what level he is playing at these days.

it didn't seem to bother him in college. If we pound a defense all game with the guys in front of him and bring this guy in for a few carries late with his speed and cutting ability, he could be a guy to put the ball in the coffin.

Because of his ST ability and RB3 I would not be surprised to see Benny Snell back around camp time when no one else has signed him

I see the Steelers are listing him as a WR but you're right, he'll strictly be used a return man.

    just say NO to Zeke.

Bring back Benny - cheap, ST player - and a good one. he only plays if Warren or Najee go out for a while anyhow. AND - he knows the system, players, coaches.
