Which Pittsburgh Steelers in modern times that went elsewhere were very productive elsewhere?

    Was thinking of Vrabel also.

Joey Porter had a lights out year in 2008 with 17.5 sacks for the dolphins.

    Kevin Greene

A lot of others have been stated

Carnell Lake was very good with the Jaguars.

Kevin Greene had moster seasons for the 49ers and Panthers after he left.

Joey Porter came close to breaking the sack record as a Dolphin. Had some great years there.

Rod Woodson was good everywhere he went.

This one made me laugh. I remember Mike Ditka (when he was a commentator) saying something like you ain't winning nothing with Bubby, lol. He actually had a couple of decent years as a starter, and had a cannon of an arm, just inconsistent. Story I remember reading was Noll saw him once on TV, there was no scouting, and he picked him. I have no idea if that is true, but the guy hung around 14 or so years and got 2 rings out of it. Not bad for a Bubby.

When my son-in-law was around 10 years old he said his favorite Steeler was Bubby Brister but after buying pack after pack of football cards he never got a Brister card. So he wrote to Bubby and asked if he could have his football card. Brister not only sent him an autographed card but also an autographed poster, a Steeler team photo that he also autographed and an autographed mini Steelers football.

I’ll add Kraig Urbik… though I guess that’s a loose definition of “success”.

That fits with what I remember of Brister. He wasn't a very good quarterback, but he did seem like a very good guy.

I think of the following, some did ok and others, especially Hardy Nickerson, Gary Anderson, Chad Brown, Kevin Greene, Mike Vrabel, Rod Woodson, Earl Holmes, Alan Faneca, John Kuhn, Plaxico Burress, Joey Porter, Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Hilton all had success after leaving:

Others that were productive include: Glen Edwards, Brentson Buckner, Leon Searcy, Carnell Lake, Yancy Thigpen, Charles Johnson, Ernie Mills, Mark Bruener, Orpheus Roye, Willie Williams, Wayne Gandy, Keenan Lewis, Chris Hope, Nate Washington,Antwaan Randle El, Clark Haggans, Larry Foote, Carlos Emmons, Mike Wallace, Kraig Urbik, Willie Colon, James Harrison, JuJu Smith-Shuster.

Vrabel and Rod Woodson ... if we are simply going off of players that were drafted by the steelers

Yes indeed, he was a beast in Green Bay, made the Pro Bowl 3 times. I always wished we could have hung on to him.

The Steelers drafted him in 1979 but released him in preseason. He signed with the 49ers, started five games as a rookie, and eventually became one of their better pass rushers. He was part of three Super Bowl championship teams in San Francisco.

Full disclosure, I had no idea the Steelers drafted him until someone else brought him up on this thread. I do remember him developing into a very good pass-rushing defensive end in the mid-80s.

Lol No I said WHEN my son-in-law was 10. I do have another son-in-law that I have known since he was 4. He and my daughter went to pre-school together, starting dating in High School and got married when she finished college.

Kevin Greene is another one. He had great success before and after his time as a Steeler.

I thought Manny Sanders had a pretty nice career after leaving Pittsburgh. I don't ever recall him causing problems anywhere. Seemed a decent dude.
