We have mainly play Him in Zone, or zone man. We pick ,and choose what sides We go man on when We do. They try to keep all eyes on Him....again our coaches, and everyone else can say politely what they want, but they don’t fear Him passing. I've seen them pull guys off of Wrs if He goes one way , or even let them go after a certain spot on the field. This is all on the film.

There is a reason he fell to this round. I am assuming he needs plenty of work.

The big problem with Trice is injuries. Last year was the only one in which he played every game. The scouting report said that because of his injury history he would have a very short career. But if he can stay healthy the report also said that because of his size and speed there is no reason that he shouldn't be a solid #2 CB for years. That would be a steal getting a #2 corner with a 7th round pick.

Injuries seem to be part of why he fell. It looks like he gets a little grabby in coverage. Then again, we've heard that about Porter, too.

I seem to having a feeling this guy might have a bunch of upside for a 7th rounder should he stay healthy.

If both him and Porter pan out as good players we are set at corner for a little bit.

    Fair point.

That said, Teryl Austin and Mike Tomlin will likely make tweaks to the game plan.

I wonder if Steelers will look to make him safety again

    https://www.jconline.com/story/spor...to-impress-scouts-ahead-of-draft/70140322007/

Purdue teammates had sent him links to articles that highlighted Trice's lack of speed at the next level.

A text from Trice's speed coach told him to "empty the tank."

    Trice promptly ran a 4.47 40-yard dash.

"They knew how bad I wanted it. I was telling them I am going to get a 4.4," Trice said. "My teammates saw all the articles and they were sending them to me. People saying I wasn't going to run well."

Trice also checked off the other question about him as an NFL prospect: his health.

Trice missed most of the 2021 season with a knee injury, but returned to play a full season in 2022 before opting out of the Citrus Bowl to prepare for the NFL draft.

In 30 career games, Trice racked up 106 tackles and returned two of his five interceptions for touchdowns.

"It was a long journey. I came in as a safety. I had to make the transition to corner," said the Hopkinsville, Kentucky, native who redshirted in 2018. "It was a little tough but I feel like it all worked out well. Everything happens for a reason."

I hope Trice makes the team, so they can have two 6'3 CBs going forward, Peterson, Wallace, Witherspoon, and Pierre could all be gone in 2024.

Especially Witherspoon , Pierre, Maulet they can't cover. They are 2-3 yds off of receiver. unload this dead wood.

His injury history is why he fell. I've read a couple reports on him and his injury issues started in high school with a broken ankle. High ankle sprain in college. torn ACL in college. Without those injuries he would have been a day 2 selection. I hope the young man has left those injuries behind and can play healthy. He was a steal at that position in the draft as long as he can stay healthy.

I think I will wait before I anoint him as the next great cover man. We drafted a guy in the 3rd a couple years ago that was supposed to be a steal and I don't think he is even on the team anymore.

Not someone who popped up on my radar, mostly because I knew that by 2(18) we would have picked a corner, but was reading through the Bengals and Ravens message boards today, and Trice is a name that popped up on both by round 2 (as in, yeah, but Trice is still out there).
It's kind of neat on both message boards- Pick one- Yeah, Steelers got a T. Pick two- how is JPJ still on the board. Pick three- Damned, Steelers are killing it. Pick 4- WTF!!!!

Justin Layne. Another big, fast corner who just wasn't good at covering anyone.

Layne was characterized as something of a project. He had converted from receiver to cornerback in college. Trice may be a little more polished, but he is still a seventh rounder for a reason.
