His contract for 2024 is like 15 million. So they got a one year rental for 5 million, if he likes it here and playes well enough I'm sure they will seek and equitable contract adjustment, if he bulks you set him free. it a win for him as he still gets his pay and comes to a place where his talent can actually be used. Anything beyond this year is just gravy.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t have drafted him either over this. I think it is a lot of 22 year old stuff. But it was a serious situation even if he was only a role player in it.

Come on man, they’d be alive.

And the fact that the other driver was drunk makes it even worse that Carter still raced them.

He doesn’t get to be a normal 22 year old, he’s about to cash in on something he has been working towards for years and he risked losing it all. That’s a massive character flaw, IMO. Then the crap he pulled at his pro day and then refusing to meet teams outside of the top 10.

    Good luck to the Eagles.

The only ones who have any trade value are players the Steelers wouldn't want to lose. Nobody is trading for Anthony Miller or Gunner Olszewski.

    I disagree somewhat with this.

While Allen Robinson is definitely a bit up there age wise at 29, he is still the teams current best Slot Based WR. This role is something that CAIII was supposed to have during his Rookie Season. However, injuries prevented him from going. Furthermore, while I do agree that CAIII will bounce back, I wouldn't want to place all my proverbial eggs into one basket believing that CAIII will be setting the league ablaze come Week 1 after coming back from a Season Ending Injury. Competition is needed and that is one of the reasons Allen Robinson was brought here. The other stems due to his veteran leadership and experience.

I was referring to Khan interviewing for the GM position. He went on half dozen or so and even the Steelers interviewed like a dozen guys before settling on Khan. Strange.

Yeah... that whole process was kinda weird. I imagine AR 2 and Co. did it not just for due diligence but also for PR reasons?! I can only imagine what the reaction would be if the Steelers just announced Omar as the GM just after Kevin left.

... That said, we did get Andy Weidl out of it!! :drinks:

There were a few of us here who were thrilled when they announced Weidl. He helped build that monster team in Philly. So far, he's done an outstanding job here. This team is legit right now. If Canada and Kenny figure this out, we're contenders.

Love trade up for Broderick. He wouldn't have been there otherwise. It shows he's thinking and being aggressive.

It's a game like any other competition to get who they want.

Don't be fooled with the pleasantries in the conferences.

Kenny isn't my concern. Canada is. Glenn Thomas is likely the failsafe should Matt stumble again come Year 3.

Step up or step out time for him.

This is no doubt make or break for Canada.

They won't keep him around if this offense flounders.

I really only think they kept him around to not throw a kink at Kenny Pickett making him learn an entirely new scheme.

We're all watching no excuses now brand new LT, potential pro bowl LG, sexy new TE, and veteran WR additions.

I just got up to speed with the article referencing the Ravens thoughts on Weidl…..
This guy gets more accurate/in-depth information out of colleges about prospects than others do.

Aside from the top tier prospects, it really gives a lot of hope in our draft picks from the latter rounds and UDFA pool.

I’m late to the Weidl party, but what weapon to have in him. :towel:

And this sheriff doesn’t like midgets

Nobody drafted was under 6’ 2”

Austin better stand out in camp or he will be flicked like a little booger

For me this wonderful (on paper) draft was all set up with the jump ahead of the Jets to get the OT. From then on we could finally play the board properly. It was deep in corner backs, so play it that way and wait and see who drops with the 32 pick. The fact it was JP was great but we had put ourselves into that position with our first move. The fact we were also able to trade back in the 3rd, pick up a fourth and still get our man in the Washington beast was icing on the cake...and a move I doubt KC would have made as there weren't at least 256 players they wanted and were too scared to miss out on.

I also think it was telling how MT jumped in to that press conference thingy to say how aggressive Omar had been during the pre-season/draft process. I imagine this whole new(?) approach has been a bit of a rude awakening for MT.

Ah, good catch. I hope to be done with the searching for the miniature weapon.

Hopefully they finally hit with Austin but overall that has been a massive fail and seemed to cost them a draft pick every year.

I agree with you on Carter. I wouldn't have touched him in the early rounds if I were a team.

The last listed 5' 8 WR or weapon the Steelers drafted before Austin was in 2014. That player was Dri Archer. This is where facts meet reality or "seemed".

That being said, the Steelers brought in several players that lacked "ideal size" as UDFA. Warren appears to be a good player that lacks ideal size.

All the more reason the Steelers hired Glenn Thomas. Again and, as I have stated multiple times since he was hired, Glenn is more than just the mere "Offensive Assistant" that the team has him under currently. Given the fact that he has NFL Experience in addition to College Experience, should Canada falter again, Thomas is likely taking control of the Offense. How soon though shall remain to be seen.

Canada will be given another season to produce better results. KP did some good things and the run game improved with MC as OC.

I doubt the Steelers would fire Canada during the season. The Steelers generally function with the philosophy to promote from within. Thomas will be judge on if he can provide a good working relationship within the organization. This is what boss man(Rooney) ultimately wants.

If KP develops into the truth every discussion about OC will be meaningless. OC's don' win game bro. Players win games.

Seemed being the key word there. I know they weren’t every year.

    Austin
    McFarland
    Archer
    Rainey
    Batch
    Ayers

All under 5’10. The point of my post is I hope they don’t waste any more draft capital on searching for that unicorn diminutive weapon like Sproles. I don’t care about bringing in undersized UDFA.

Hopefully Austin pans out but he already hasn’t gotten off to a good start.

Warren is off to a good start, no?

I never thought the Steelers were searching for Sproles. The Steelers drafted and brought in players because they believed they could play in the NFL. It's that simple.

You don't care? The Steelers care and obviously other teams care about players that can potentially play in the NFL regardless of size.

This is a fact that you will have to live. That is unless you become the owner of an NFL team and demand that "I don't want no midgets on my team".

Apparently I don’t have to live with it this draft.

Hopefully Warren keeps it up. He also went undrafted, maybe that’s where they should be looking and not wasting draft capital.

Didn't say fire per say.... not in the traditional sense. What I mean via Glenn Thomas is giving him more input within the Offensive Game Plan should things not pan out well for Canada. After this season... I would imagine that the Steelers will not resign Canada.

Thomas is someone they want to know that they can have a good working relationship with before keeping him long term or promoting him.
That's generally how the Steelers did things in the past. I don't know if the Steelers will resign Canada or not. I think KP gave Canada a large endorsement. That might be the main reason Canada remains with the Steelers.

Ummm, another FACT, you have live with this draft and every decision the Steelers make as long as you are a Steeler fan.

Why would why a 6 time SB winning billion dollar franchise that invest millions of dollars in the draft process choose to waste draft capital?
