LMAO, no that's normal people using a figure of speech, unless you're still on the QANON bus I guess.

How did they script the Santonio Holmes classic, or the David Tyree catch?

I mean you must KNOW, because you know it's scripted...

NFL came down hard on gambling on games. Some of these guys are out of the league

Four Detroit Lions, including last year's first-round pick Jameson Williams, were among five players suspended by the NFL for violating the league's gambling policy, the NFL announced Friday.

Williams and Stanley Berryhill received six-game suspensions for their actions. Both players are available to take part in the team's offseason program and preseason activities, including games.

The NFL issued indefinite suspensions for Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore. Both players were suspended for the entire 2023 NFL season at the very least. They can apply for reinstatement following the 2023 NFL season. The Lions released Cephus and Moore after learning they were suspended, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney also received an indefinite suspension from the NFL for violating the league's gambling policy.

Wait what? They can't even bet on College games? So they probably used an App with partnerships with the NFL to make bets on college games, they just can't do it while they're in NFL facilities? What kind of garbage is that?

What about Fantasy Football? Does this mean they can get busted if they're in a league that has prizes or cash payouts?

Per league rules they aren’t allowed to gamble in any team/league facility. They made bets on college games, but did so at the Lions facility.

Isn't that what I said? So to be clear, because they probably pulled up a phone app (most likely one that has sponsorships with the NFL) and bet on NCAA games while at a facility they're in violation. What if they just check the app? Is it based on if you hit the bet button while on premises?

Just seems like a pretty broad policy. Not like they were calling the bookie from team phones in the meeting rooms and passing money envelopes. I'm sure this is to send a message though.

We keep forgetting these are young men. Young men are going to do stuff like this. especially ones with some disposable income.

I wonder if it was one of the sportsbook partners of the NFL? Caesars Entertainment DraftKings or FanDuel

Really there are many more players who are gambling but they along with last year Calvin Ridley were the only ones caught. Just saying.

Is it really that difficult to follow a simple rule? What a terrible burden! I can’t place this bet until I leave the premises.

Yes, it's really akin to any of us making sports bets when we're on the clock at work. We all can wait until we get home or at the first Sheetz or GetGo that we can find and place our bets in the parking lot.

Not saying it's a burden, just saying it's kind of a hypocritical rule if they're not betting on NFL games.

We don't know when they placed these bets. Maybe dude was on the crapper and decides to put some $ down on a parlay or he made a bet earlier in the day and now the odds have changed and he decides to make some changes while squeezing out a brown trout.

I get the intent of the rule, to make it so that these guys can't be questioned about anything at the facility by banning any type of activity around sports betting. I'm just saying it does seem a bit off when you partner with sports books and advertise the betting apps, to totally ban anything at the facility. While having a team in Vegas.

Then again this is a warning shot to the rest of the guys, letting them know they mean it and they can find out.

Dumb rule if they were betting on college games. But… a rule is a rule, and if you break the rule you pay the price.

We know they made the bets in a location they weren’t suppose to. Come up with all of the what ifs you want. They broke the rules and paid the price. They’re grown men responsible for their decisions.

You really don't get that I'm not arguing the point that they messed up and broke a rule do you?

All I'm saying is it's kind of a hypocritical stance if they didn't bet on NFL games, but I get the intent of the rule. Give guys an inch and they'll do something worse.

On the one hand I find the idea that the NFL is scripted to be ridiculous. On the other hand, I have never seen anything in my life that involved more than a nominal amount of money that was a completely clean process. And the NFL involves a LOT of money. So there’s that.

The whole thing is a joke, and this is why. There is too much risk for not enough reward. The NFL doesn't need any particular team to win to make insane amounts of money, but if they risk destroying the integrity of the results, that's a hell of a lot they could lose.
