I believe there are only two players in this draft the Steelers would potentially target to trade up for:

    1. Witherspoon
    2. Porter Jr.

Perhaps the LT from Ohio State forgot his name. He just doesn’t seem like a sure fire Blue Chip LT to me though.

I really don't think the Steelers will trade up since they are in a good spot at #17 and 32. But for the sake of argument say they really want Porter or Paris Johnson. They might trade up as high as #13 or 14 to take their guy but probably no higher up than that.

I’m really not thinking about a trade up at #17, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens for JP Jr or Paris Johnson.

I am thinking that a trade up from #32 could be in the works if someone we covet is falling towards the bottom of the first round. A guy that I have penciled in as a candidate is Bresee. I don’t like him at #17, but I doubt he makes it past the mid-late 20’s. I’m a bit concerned about his past injuries and that his production doesn’t match his talent, but his talent really pops on tape. He looks to me like a guy who may start a bit slow in 2023, but who could become a Cam Heyward caliber player in the 2-3 year time frame. He has the physical talent to play all over the line of scrimmage with power and quickness. If he had been more dominant last season, I think he’d be in the Top 10 conversation. Unlike most guys whose college production lags behind their talent, he’s a documented good guy who works hard. It’s not hard to see him as someone who becomes a better pro than he was in college.

Injuries and the fact that his 15 year old sister died last season from brain cancer really messed up his year. After a tragedy like that it's kind of hard to get fired up to play football with his sister's death weighing on his mind.

Will Anderson. Not that it would happen. Would love him in the black and gold more than anyone in this draft.

    He's the terminator.

Any 3 of the Left Tackles, I would give up the Steelers 3rd round pick to move up and get one. Once these 3 LTs are off the board you need to wait until the 2nd round to take a lineman.

Skoronski, Paris Johnson, and Broderick Jones would all be starting LTs from day 1 on this team.

Like @strummerfan said....nobody. There are only 16 teams picking before us....You know at least 2 will be a Qb. So thats 14. There are about....give , or take.... 3 guys per position that should be 1st rounders....If You can't find a great player at the various spots of need We have... of what will be left by our pick 17.....You need another job. Period

Oh, well yeah of course I’d trade up to get him if it weren’t going to take our 24 and 25 first rounders. I don’t think it would be prudent to spend what it would take to get to pick #3 to get him though.

There will be plenty of D players that should be taken in the 17th pick.

I expect four QBs to get picked before #17.

I recently watched a few games of each of those 3 tackles. My impressions of Johnson and Jones were “solid starting LT with some pro bowl potential.” For Skowronski it was “day 2 guard.” He will NOT be a quality starting LT in the NFL, and probably won’t play tackle at all. He has a chance at G, but needs to get stronger. If he does become a good LT, go ahead and find this post a couple of years from now and say “see?”

A CB should be the first, that can play immediately.

Doing the math I tend to think someone we really like will slip to us. 4 QB's will be gone + guys like Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, Myles Murphey and a WR or two and then a surprise reach = a CB or OT dropping to us. I'd rather get a Darnell Wright than Peter Skoronski. And as much as I want CB or OT, don't hop a cliff if we take that WR from OSU anyways.

You stay at 17! If somebody comes calling with a sweet deal you trade down ONLY! They are missing both their 5th and 6th picks due to players who are not on the roster now. Hopefully they can trade Penalty Dotson for a 5th. He is no longer needed.

    We do......

But this would be like having Arnold Schwarzenegger AND Robert Patrick together. And this time they would be on the same side.

    Let that sink in.

You ....as You'll know....will not find Me arguing this.
That's exactly what I hope they do. How many years in a row have We lost key CBs off this team. Seems like every year for awhile.

I’d trade down to pick up additional picks before I traded up. The draft is pretty deep in positions of need like OT and CB so there’s no special player the Steelers should trade up for like they did for Troy P and Devin…oh, never mind.

I was disappointed the Steelers chose to send Pat Meyer to Darnell Wright's Pro Day rather than Anton Harrison's on March 30th. I think both of these guys should be in play at #32, but definitely not at #17.

If Peter Skoronski is sitting there at #17 because of his short arms, I really hope that the Steelers would punch his ticket immediately.

A short armed tackle protecting the blind side of a small handed quarterback just would never work. :nono:

It’d be like the land of misfit toys in Rudolph. :lolol:
