Very interesting story, I wish him success. Didn't know he was the special teams captain. Wonder if Mendy coming back next week puts him back on practice squad of if they carry 5 running backs.

Wish he could have gotten 2 yards against the Titans.

In a One On One drill he stood up James Harrison in practice and rookies don't do that. Heck Veterans don't do that -Troy Polamalu-

hope they'll just dump Mendy or if not, find some way to keep Baron on the roster, I've always liked that kid and really hope he can turn into a valuable and productive player for the Steelers (whether it's every-down-back or 3rd-down-back, I don't care, i just him to succeed)

i believe he will be a much better back next year. the knee will be much better and he will be much more sure of it. i pulled for the kid from day one when we drafted him. he's got some talent.

I don't think he's that good of a RB. Yes he opened some eyes with his backs-on-backers drill performance but he's a RB, wish his " carrying the rock" performance was eye opening.

The talent level of our RB corp has nothing to do with batch's running skillset. Our OL may not be the best but dwyer and redman seem to have some success and mendy has been productive before his injurys. Batch has a good and heartfelt story. I wish him success but in reality he just isn't that good at running with the ball. He's strong and fast so it must be his vision or decision making process while running. Maybe coaching will help some but without reps he'll never get better and without showing the coaches he can be productive at carrying the ball he won't get any reps.

they have had some success? out of our top 3 backs we haven't even rushed for 1,000 yards as a team this year. that's not real successful. remember this is his rookie year so to speak. he ran very well in college. the difference is this o-line and zero holes. you can't be happy with the run output this year and i can't believe you are thinking it's successful. c'mon man!

it is my opinion the line has only a small part of his low production level for the season ..
I think the largest single reason he is not looked good is he is just 1 season removed form MAJOR knee surgery , it normally takes 2 years to fully recover from any such injury ( AP is an anomaly ) and if memory serves Batchs injury was pretty severe ....

next year is the true testing grounds for what he has

exactly what i said a little earlier in this thread. next year should be much better for him. this team brutalized him in preseason on that knee.

I'm kind of with Cajun on this one, but I also hope mac and Dwins are right that he's still not yet over the injury.

I was a big fan of what Batch brought into camp as a rookie - he seemed to be the only back who could block, had versatility, performed well, and was unfortunate to have a nasty injury. And he has a great story. But he's been disappointing in his comeback - hampered by the general team performance, and also by the depth at RB we have.

It would be good to see him blossom next season if he's still around.
