All I know is that I tried to go there a couple of times, and my computer won't let me go. Comes up with an "unsafe site" notice.

I'll post this here as opposed to starting a new thread.

Mocks and these draft simulations are all over the place once you get past the top 20 kids. And even some kids like a Noah Sewell is thought of as a top 15 kid or as low as the third round. The G from USC was mocked in the low 20s on some board and is generally in the late 2nd/early 3rd most other places. It's really interesting to see the ranges these kids are from board to board to board. I noticed it some last year, but it wasn't nearly as inconsistent as it is this year, or at least seems. Not sure if this means this is a deep or shallow class. But it's very noticeable.

Love the LT pick in Jones, and then you snag the young center of the future in Wypler.

I still think this team can be built around Najee to win. We just need to build up the O-Line and then watch Najee flirt with a 2,000 yard season.

This is a great draft. Albeit it ignores our 2 most needy positions. Corner and Linebacker. But I like the the focus on the Oline and DLine.

Great value at 32 that can't be passed up. Good pick at 17. Dexter I'd have considered at 80 and a corner or LB at 49. But Wypler is such great value that I'd have stuck to that at 80 and see what DLine was available at 120. Coburn Ojomo?

Mingo is great, but I can skipp WR this year. Even though thetr are going to be so many value WR picks around 120. Parker Washington being my favorite in that range.

    Let's say something like

1Jones, 2. Van Ness, 2a Phillips III or Brents, 3. Whypler, 4. Coburn 7. Sirvocea Dennis, 7b Stetson Bennett.

    I'd like that even more.

I see Van Ness more as a 4/3 DE.

I'd be very surprised if he's there at 32.

    1st no trades

    1: 17 Brian Branch S
    2: 32 Dawand Jones T
    2: 49 Mazi Smith DT
    3: 80 Garrett Williams CB
    4: 120 Trey Palmer WR
7: 235 Malik Cunningham QB (potential ideas of moving to WR)
    7: 242 Mohomoud Diabite LB

2nd a trade with the Chargers and swindled an extra 3rd and 4th and then a 5th rounder from them.

    1: 21 Deonte Banks CB
    2: 32 Dawand Jones T
    2: 49 Mazi Smith DT
    3: 80 Nathaniel Dell WR
    3: 85 Dorian Williams LB
    4: 120 Moro Ojumo DT
    4: 124 KJ Henry Edge
    5: 157 Jack Kuntz TE
    7: 235 Malik Cunningham QB
    7: 242 Hunter Luepke FB

Overall a fun waste of time. Mostly went with BPA in position of need. I have a sense that in reality Dawand Jones won't be there at 32.

Both I wouldn't mind. Admittedly though, the 2nd one to me looks like the better value. Despite my love for Brian Branch, having Deonte Banks is by no means a downgrade; a multi role DB. He can play both inside and outside and possess some serious athletic skills to boot. Having him coached up by both Grady Brown and Patrick Peterson can get him on the literal fast track to unlock that Number One Corner potential... because he truly does possess number one corner potential.

If anything, March 27th will be very telling indeed; Jaelyn Duncan included.

I'm thinking that if they're there, Jones at 32 and Smith at 49 are a lock. Unless we get one of the big three tackles in round 1.

Dawand Jones looks like he has a lot of potential to be a bust. He is just to slow for my tastes and his footwork is awful. What do you see in him?

    • Jones seems too focused on winning with his hands, too often stopping his feet. He also often plays with poor balance in the run game, lunging into contact rather than sinking his hips and delivering a block.
    • His foot speed is far from elite and impacts his ability to recover blocks
    • Defenders use his height against him - often gaining the leverage advantage and getting under his pads
    • He will be looked at as a pro-LT but has only played a limited number of snaps there - the majority coming on the right side
    • Leverage is a problem for him, who is not a bad athlete but sometimes can’t get low enough when firing off the line to create an initial push.
    • Protecting on an island will be a challenge against rushers who can dip and bend around the edge. He’ll also struggle against good countermoves; Jones often gets into position on his initial set before failing to sufficiently adjust.

I've done a bunch with variations on rounds and trades using a couple of sites. Stopping after Round 4 is a bit easier.

    17. Darnell Wright OT | Tennessee
    32. Brian Branch S/CB | Alabama
    49. Trenton Simpson LB | Clemson
    80. Tucker Kraft TE | South Dakota State
    120. Jayden Reed WR | Michigan State

Unless we trade, those 5 picks can't cover the 6-7 roster holes. That one above has no DL help. In others, I end up without a WR or TE. I did one with 4 really nice Defensive adds and a WR but no OT. I'd still like another cheap vet FA or two added before the draft.

For me it's not what I like about him, it's about what the Steelers like about him. I'm just projecting which direction they're likely to go. Which is why I'm leaning towards Branch, Dawand, and then Mazi. It likely won't go that way draft day due to the plethora of surprises that pop up. Tomlin himself watched Dawand a ton at the Sr. Bowl practices and everything involving the combine, those predraft visits and Tomlin will be at his combine tomorrow. And, shoot it could all be a smoke screen and they take Trent Simpson LB at 32. We shall see.

    Not me.

    upload_2023-3-22_11-28-17.gif

I think there will be several good players to choose from here, will just come down to who you covet the most but they will have to really go outside the box for me to end up being pissed.

Porter, Wright, Kancey, I’d be happy with any of those.
