I know everyone has their favorites but I am curious how you guys would rate the CB’s in the draft based on who is the best fit for the Steelers style of defense with it being heavy man. The measurable are nice but who are the top five in production and who are the top five in instincts. To me those are traits we often overlook and with the Steelers track record of struggling to develop these guys I think it is prudent we get a heady instinctual player who has already had a lot of production. At this position these high potential guys really scare me.

Joey Porter Jr. for example is a guy that scares me. I just don’t see the production and splash plays with him. I really feel like he is the type of player that could be a boom or bust type of player. If he goes somewhere like New England who knows how to develop CB’s he could probably be a bonafide superstar. Not so sure that would be the case here in Pittsburgh.

Alos very curious to know what peoples ratings would be for Slot Corners in this class. I really feel like that could be an area for an upgrade for the Steelers.

Can't take any list seriously that doesn't even have Cam Smith on it.

if we go CB early he has to be Mel Blount, Rod Woodson elite, thats a high bar. My preference would be trenches or ILB 1 and 2 and then maybe CB or DB

This draft has a deep group of cornerbacks, but that may be their best option if the top three offensive tackles are all gone. I think 17 is high for an interior offensive lineman and I'm not sure they will go defensive tackle in the first round. I still think they are better off addressing inside linebacker in free agency and/or the second round.

interesting thought w the "and", wouldn't that be something, we get a proven ILB in free agency and draft ILB in early rounds

i like banks. he has a nice game. he's not the only one of course that has talent but i wouldn't mind if he fell to us. daniel scott the safety from cal looks pretty good as well. if they could pull off a

    banks or cam smith
    mazi smith
    cody mauch or schmitz
    scott

draft, i wouldn't be disappointed.

The free agent inside linebacker pool is very deep. Signing one and drafting one in the second or third round could work very well. In that case, they would probably cut Jack.

after a review of players mentioned above, there is not one player I am sold on, not to be a 'debbie downer' :huh1:

they seem promising in some respects but not for round 1,
