ESPN had a live report from the Burgh, outside the Steelers practice facility. They covered a few things. First was, struggles in Pittsburgh and the reporter spoke about the injuries (which we all know about), that they came out with no emotion on Sunday (which we all know about), the fact that Mendenhall is suspended (which we all know about), how Ben's injury is doing (which Ben said he's fine and came out a little rusty (which we all know about), THEN the reporter added that there has been some information about some players "questioning" Mike Tomlin (which I had never heard about until today)! Not sure what was meant by that, perhaps the fact that the team was unprepared possibly and then the reporter sort of squashed it by saying, the Steelers have had three coaches in like what, the last 50 years or so and went on to say that these things "inside" the locker room isn't your typical Steelers!

People living in the burgh........are you hearing about some players starting to question Tomlin in any way?

It's all BS. None of the local media outlets have reported any such thing. Just ESPN trying to stir chit up.

ESPN? :o Stop. they would never.

I find it especially funny since there was just a poll asking the players who they would want to play for the most and Tomlin was first.

I follow Mark madden on Twitter, don't know why. between re-tweets of naked women, he did tweet something about Tomlin losing control of the team. Just sayin'.

Whether or not the players are starting to tune Tomlin out, the questions need to be asked. It's unacceptable for a team to come into a game unprepared, let alone for it to happen multiple teams per year. Something is going wrong behind the scenes and it's about damn time Tomlin does his job and fixes it. Whatever needs to be done, whether it's getting new players or making the current players perform better, he needs to fix these problems that aren't going away. Penalties, lack of turnovers, lack of QB pressure, horrible Oline play, terrible special teams play, etc. Some of these problems have been ongoing issues for years now. That's really unacceptable. Time to fix it Tomlin.

I don't think he will be able to, which is why I think Tomlin will be gone before his contract is up, but I was trying to appease the large number of people who still believe in Tomlin

Often when one person is disgruntled or upset about something, that person will claim others agree with him but just don't have the nerve to speak up. Might just be a case of that, and espn would of course jump right on that wagon.

Completely irrelevant. That was a different owner and they were different coaches. I can't comment on Noll's time with the Steelers, but I know Cowher was able to fix problems that came up with the team. He didn't allow the team to be negatively affected by the same problems for years and years. If I'm wrong then I'll admit it if/when Tomlin is given another contract extension, but unless he becomes a completely different coach, I believe we will continue to be negatively affected by these same idiotic problems and Tomlin will get himself fired.

Tomlin is too damn arrogant to admit that he needs to look back towards some of these losses we've faced. He keeps saying he doesn't think about our losses and instead he moves on. What a horrible way to coach a team. Lets just ignore all the problems the team has, that's a great way to fix them.

It's definitely sucked for probably 15 of those years anyway. We seem to have several years of terrible ST play, then we have 1 year of pretty damn good ST play, then it's right back to sucking hairy co...anyway, you get the point. I just don't get it. Several years back we had our ST turned around and we were looking good. Holmes returned several kicks to the house and we were stopping the other teams returns. Then it fell apart again. It's as if once we get good we stop practicing anything to do with ST.

not sure I would go that far , not yet anyways .. Tomlin is a smart guy and if anyone believes everything he says about not looking back at loss's I think they are fooling themselves ...

I think he realizes there is a problem , I just am not sure he knows what to do to fix it at this stage ...

I blame him it is no secret , everything falls into the lap of the man in charge it is the nature of the beast , granted it is greatly impacted by the players on the roster but those are the players he selected for the roster so again right back at him no matter what way you try and throw it it will always bounce back at the Head Coach fair or not it is just how it always has been and will always be ...

I think Tomlin takes the off season and evaluates how he does business with his players and makes adjustments ....

remember when he first came here he was a hard ass and players complained about how tough he was in camp , he then relaxed those efforts probably to much so ,look for things to head back to harder tougher camps maybe not to the degree as his first but not as simple as recent times ...

lots of player leadership is gone next man up has not worked in that area ...

This year, the team has been plagued from the first game of the season with a ton of injuries. Week 1 we're missing Ryan Clark (not an injury, but still), James Harrison, David DeCastro, Mendy, etc, etc. Our 1st and 3rd picks are injured. 4th pick gets into trouble (not sure how that is Tomlin's fault exactly, though he shares responsibility for the fix). We lost our starting QB for 3 1/2 games. Our #1 wide receiver has underperformed. And yet, we're looking at a playoff run. Just how bad of a coach are you with that situation? Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher both had losing seasons. At this point, we're hoping for 10-6 and a Superbowl win.

I'm not ready to join the coaching carousel that the Browns and Cardinals and Dolphins and others are on. Look at the Cowboys. They were the first (Steelers the second) team to win a Superbowl with 3 consecutive coaches. Once Jerry Jones decided to switch coaches every other year, they've barely won a playoff game. No thank you. I'm not interested in that at all. One of the many endearing aspects to me as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers is their commitment to their coaches and players. Chuck Noll won a superbowl with only players he drafted. Look how few players on this team weren't drafted by the Steelers. Win or Lose, I'm going to wave my Terrible Towel and root for the guys we put on the field. Coaches and players.

i've touched on this subject before. MT is a young guy. a first time head coach. i'm not sure he has all the answers to these problems.

as dwins says, alot of leadership is gone. not only player leadership but coaching leadership around him. none other than BA being gone. maybe he leaned on BA more than we know. DLB is a comfort to him. he's been around forever. he's been a head coach. again older coaching leadership surronding MT. he doesn't have much to worry about with guys like that. same with BA. former head coach. older coach in the league. didn't have to worry about much.

haley and MT don't have that repore yet. both are and were first time head coaches and still were working their ways up through the league. that's one difference this year. i guess it could be summed up as those that don't know, surround themselves with people who do know. he's lost one of those.
john mitchell is the assistant head coach. never been one before.

they are talking of bringing up our new young offensive quality control coach to be the new head O-line coach. has never done it before. i'm not sure why all the promotion from within talk. butler for DLB. amos and MT as ST's. kirby without the fire as OC. it just seems he's comfortable and is not sure what to do in a high profile situations. i think he fell on BA for some of this behind the scenes stuff and he's gone. i could be totaly wrong, but this is my take on him so far this year.

Cowher left for a reason and has turned down other jobs for a reason. He's not coming back to coaching at all.
