mazi smith. i think this move helps the defense so much. ILB, OLB. this one move should help both sets of linebackers alone. they will have to use doubles on he and cam. that alows leal to do things. that also frees up the linebackers from being blocked and if not then the d-line makes the plays. we run so much two down linemen sets as well, we would finally have a guy along with cam to do damage inside. he's so strong and quick. i'd take this pick at 17 and not think twice. it helps the other levels of the defense.

i hope our new GM takes the plunge.

My dream is to get a CB like Witherspoon at #17, take Mazi Smith at #32 and then pick Dawand Jones at #49.

 

i think witherspoon will be gone but gonzolez or cam smith may be there. i'd like either over porter in the first if we went that way. i'm leaning towards cody mauch as a tackle prospect. the dude just looks to have a little crazy in his eye's.

 

Although I was all for OT or WR early on, I now think it will be defense with the #1 pick, maybe the first second round pick as well. I am big time for Trenton Simpson, ILB from Clemson at #32. I hope he is there when we pick.

 

Cody Mauch looks like a Steeler. Long red hair and missing his front teeth. He looks like a mixture of Brett Keisel and Jack Lambert.

thing 1, thing 2, thing 3, and definitely a thing 4. grab henley in the 4th, trade mitch and throw in a riley moss and this would be a stellar draft. fills the holes and use the two 7ths on a WR, TE, OG/C, or QB.

 

I have called for these space eaters early on, huge NT helps ILB roam free, don't get washed out by 330 pd OL. I hope this is with our third pick. And then we sign Eagles FA ILB during FA.Instant upgrade. best OL/CB at 17 and 32 then NT.

Cam Smith needs to run fast to get into the first 2 rounds. The consensus is that he lacks athletism.


Mazi Smith is a pass rushing DT. He's a freak, but I'd rather a run stuffer later.

Christopher Smith is a player. Not sure I'll take him in the 2nd. Lots of very good safeties.

Mauch: I dig that dude. And in the 3rd is perfect.

In the 4th maybe Ivan Pace? Undersized blitzing middle linebacker.

 

Hoping to see the Steelers do an interview with Mazi. Otherwise I think the Steelers will have to pass because of the felony Gun Charge. Right now it is not a good time to be carrying an unlicensed gun around in your car.

He will get drafted, he was charged with a misdemeanor gun charge, they kept Justin Layne on the team after he got arrested with a gun in his car.

 

if he was in ohio it would be no big deal. i have that much or more with me many times. if it wasn't in michigan it wouldn't be as big of deal. he was a day or two from receiving his carry permit. better to have too much than not enough. i don't think this will deter many teams from considering him.

 

mazi is far more than a pass rushing DT. 49 tackles and only one sack.

smith can run but i'm not set on him but just depends who falls to us. heck i could easily wait because there are some good corners in just about every round.

christopher smith, or sydney brown would be guys i hope they look too. both can play corner as well if needed. they can most likely play anywhere back there. kind of twofers.

Yeah I don't think it will have any impact. He wasn't using the gun while committing a crime and fully cooperated with the police. Like you said gun laws differ greatly from state to state. So it's a big nothing burger.

 

I really wouldn't be upset with him going with our first pick. I think a good corner will be there at 32. Joey Porter may be there. Would be an interesting first two picks, Then Cody Mauch with our second pick in the second round.

 

Like the guy or not, he's not a first rounder, especially not at #17. 32, 49 maybe. But not at 17.
DTs, unless game changers, tend to fall. QBs, WRs, OTs, CBs and edge will make up about 80% of the top 20 picks. The others will be far and away the best player at their position (think Kyle Pitts outstanding). Carter is that player. Brezee might be that player. Mazi isn't that player. He's either ranked 3, 4, or 5, depending on who's doing the ranking.

 

He may be ranked a lot higher by the Steelers. I would not be upset with this pick. However I see them going CB with the first pick. Maybe Mazi will be there at 32

 

I tend to agree with @Rollers about that. It's always team based.
