This once again is a stern reminder as to why Watson potentially not working out sets the entire Franchise back a considerable number of years. Some serious discussions will have to be made should the Browns not become competitive in 2023. For that matter and, as I said, keep an eye on Myles Garrett come the 2023 Trade Deadline should things go south.

In 2023, Garrett's cap hit becomes 11.5% alone. Watson's tacks on another 21.7%. Those two alone combine for 33.2% of the cap. Again, this should not amount to much but when one has to factor in signing FAs or even extending players like Jedrick Wills Jr... those expenses add up. Restructures can only do so much.

Well, at least they can use their 1st round picks for the next few years to solidify the roster inexpensively…. Oh wait… :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

That Watson deal was probably the most boneheaded deal in history.
Even if the guy was part Mahomes, part Allen, part man-bear-pig he was not worth that.
    ~22% of the cap. Wow.
So, yeah, that team will be doing some wiggling over the next few weeks.

...and because of that, Lamar wants an even bigger guaranteed deal in Baltimore! So the Watson contract is the reason Baltimore is in QB Hell. Awesome. Thanks for being you, Browns. ;)

    Funny you mention that.
I was working in Washington then when news of that trade was announced - He traded every pick in the 1999 draft, plus two of its first three picks in 2000, for the fifth overall pick for his 12th pick, I remember being in the media room and the pack of us in complete disbelief that he would so such.

Of course, Washington didn't go anywhere with that bounty.

What makes the Cleveland move particularly stupid, is one would think NFL Execs would learn from the Ditka move or Vikes trade (which worked out very well for Dallas).
Watson is interesting, but not Peyton, Brady, Mahomes, Allen or whatever.

I mean, Burrow needs to be paid, too, and he's way better than Watson and Jackson. Good times.

At least He didn't give the most guaranteed contract of all time on top of all that....like Cleveland did.

There are 32 starting QB's in the NFL and Watson finished 33rd in deep ball accuracy. I knew he sucked in his 6 starts but I didn't know it was that bad.

The funniest thing about this post isn’t manbearbig. It’s that someone clicked the disagree button. I’m being totally serial.

And this is the insanity moving forward. Understand its market driven, but Danny Dimes thinking he is going to get 45 million? It really does not matter what people think, that contract set a price for both guaranteed and yearly money..owners will scoff and say it was a one time thing, but the bar has been set and if Qb's who have had greater success will expect to be the next highest paid. The Cap dollars are expected to go up significantly in the next couple of years, but the expectations will only drive the asking price higher. Other positions will also take note, WR for one, CB and T for sure. It will eventually settle as it always does, but teams paying the price to soon will often drive themselves into CAP hell for years.

Still have to laugh at that though, imagine scouting and filing reports all year, the excitement of seeing your work come to fruition...then in a 5 second moment the new HC says he has traded all the teams picks for one player. LMAO

    It was the Kid Analyst

He thinks that players should be signed to large guaranteed contracts

As you may of noticed his knowledge of business is limited
